Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is undertaking the East Terminal Expansion Project (ETEP), a multi-phase initiative with an estimated investment between $140 million and $180 million. The project aims to enhance passenger experience, increase capacity, and develop essential infrastructure to support current and future growth.
Key Features of the Expansion:
Enhanced A Concourse: The concourse will feature larger hold-rooms, modern amenities, and additional retail, food, and beverage concessions. The expansion will increase the total number of gates from 12 to 15.
Expanded Baggage Claim: The baggage claim area will be equipped with three high-capacity carousels designed to promote a seamless baggage claim process.
Second Security Checkpoint: A new security checkpoint will be added on the east end of the terminal to improve passenger flow and reduce wait times.
New Third Floor: A third floor will be constructed to house BZN's Airport Administration Offices, providing centralized administrative functions.
Project Timeline:
Construction is currently underway, targeting the entire east end of the terminal from baggage claim to the parking garage entrance. The projected completion date for the expansion is 2030. The initial phase, known as Phase 0 or the "Enabling Phase," focused on preparing the terminal for construction by establishing temporary infrastructure to maintain daily operations was completed in late 2024. Phase 1, which began shortly after, involves the demolition of the north half of the original terminal building, excavation, foundation work, and structural steel erection.
The airport handled 2.6 million passengers in 2024.
