Interested contractors have submitted their proposals for the Saudi Lenovo production plant. Chinese-based technology company, Lenovo, seeks to build a manufacturing facility based in Riyadh. Dubbed the Oasis project, proposals for the project were submitted earlier this week. Earlier last week, Lenovo broke ground on where the site where the facility is expected to be constructed. It is expected that the facility will be constructed on a 200,000 square-meter site. The location is at the Special Integrated Logistics Zone at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
Once completed, the airport where the facility is based is expected to be the worldâs largest. Furthermore, the plan is for the construction works to be conducted in two phases. Each phase of the Saudi Lenovo production plant is expected to be operational by 2026. The first phase entails the construction of the first plant building and the main office building. Moreover, it includes the construction of warehouses, other buildings and associated infrastructure. The second phase entails the construction of the second plant building and other associated buildings. Completion of this phase is expected by August 2026.

Lenovo signed a collaboration agreement with Alat to facilitate setting up the Saudi Lenovo production plant. Moreover, Lenovo secured a $2bn investment deal with Alat to manufacture computer devices in the kingdom. The funding is expected to facilitate construction and the establishment of a regional headquarters for the Middle East and African Market. The headquarters will include customer centers, research and development centers and manufacturing facilities. Once completed, the company aims to create 39,000 direct jobs and achieve a direct non-oil GDP contribution of $9.3bn. The Saudi Lenovo production plant is one of the aims Alat has in ensuring that it achieves its objectives outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030. Alat aims to manufacture more than 30 product categories such as robotic systems and communication systems. Moreover, it also aims to include advanced heavy machinery used in construction, building and mining.

Gcl Optoelectronics Finishes 1 Gw Perovskite Pv Module Factory In ChinaGCL Optoelectronics, a unit of GCL Group, has officially commissioned its perovskite photovoltaic module base in Kunshan, China's Jiangsu province. It is the worldâs first gigawatt-scale manufacturing facility for perovskite solar modules.
The first phase of the plant, with a nameplate capacity of 1 GW, broke ground in May 2024 and was completed in just over a year. The second phase will expand capacity to 2 GW, depending on market demand. With a total planned investment of CNY 5 billion ($696.9 million), the facility will serve as GCLâs global R&D headquarters and the future listed platform for its perovskite operations.
The Kunshan plant builds on GCLâs early position in perovskite technology, following the launch of its 100 MW pilot line in 2021. The company has since achieved several technical breakthroughs, including certified single-junction module efficiency of 19.04% and tandem cell efficiency of 29.51%, placing it among global frontrunners.
GCLâs large-format modules, measuring up to 1.2 meters by 2.4 meters, are the largest of their kind and have passed TĂV Rheinlandâs triple IEC stability certification.
To accelerate innovation, GCL has partnered with Suzhou Laboratory and Soochow University to establish the worldâs first AI-driven high-throughput perovskite research center, located on-site. The lab integrates artificial intelligence with high-throughput experimentation to optimize materials formulation and process design.
The company said its modules have already undergone field validation in diverse environments, including high-altitude sites in Qinghai province, demonstration projects in the Gobi Desert, and coastal building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) pilots. These projects reportedly demonstrate the adaptability of GCLâs perovskite technology to extreme UV radiation, temperature swings, and saline or dusty conditions.
GCL plans to scale up production through a dual-track strategy of mass manufacturing and application-specific demonstrations. It is also exploring integration of perovskite modules with long-duration storage and green hydrogen systems to support a vertically integrated low-carbon energy ecosystem covering solar power, green chemicals, and data computing.

DALLASâTexas Instruments plans to invest more than $60 billion across seven U.S. semiconductor fabs, the largest investment in foundational semiconductor manufacturing in U.S. history.
TI is expanding its U.S. manufacturing capacity to supply the growing need for semiconductors for vehicles, smartphones, data centers and other technologies. Combined, TIâs new manufacturing sites in Texas and Utah will support more than 60,000 U.S. jobs.
âTI is building dependable, low-cost 300-millimeter capacity at scale to deliver the analog and embedded processing chips that are vital for nearly every type of electronic system,â said Haviv Ilan, president and CEO of Texas Instruments. âLeading U.S. companies such as Apple, Ford, Medtronic, NVIDIA and SpaceX rely on TIâs world-class technology and manufacturing expertise, and we are honored to work alongside them and the U.S. government to unleash whatâs next in American innovation.â

Mumbai Airport Raises $750M Through Bond For ModernizationThe private company managing Mumbaiâs Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) has lined up $1 billion in financing that it plans to invest in modernizing the airport.
BOM is Indiaâs second busiest gateway, handling 54.8 million passengers in 2024âa 6.3% increase year-on-year. The modernization plan will include the redevelopment of Terminal 1, with work expected to start later this year.
The phased project will overhaul the terminal to serve domestic operations, with provisions for future international integration. Once complete, Terminal 1 will boost its annual passenger handling capacity by 42% to 20 million. Planned infrastructure upgrades include installation of a district cooling system, electrical substations, and a new baggage handling system. A multi-modal transport hub is also in development, providing direct links to metro and bus stations.
Adani Airports Holdings said the money has been secured through âIndiaâs first investment grade rated private bond issuance in the airport infrastructure sector.â Adani Airports has initially raised $750 million through the issuance of notes maturing in July 2029. The financing structure enables raising an additional $250 million in the future, according to the company.
âThis framework will provide enhanced financial flexibility for the capital expenditure program of [BOM] for development, modernization and capacity enhancement,â Adani Airports said.
A âsyndicate of leading institutional investors and insurance companiesâ participated, the company noted, including Apollo Global Management, BlackRock and Standard Chartered.
The willingness of the investors to buy bonds points to âglobal confidence in Indiaâs Infrastructure opportunity and Adani Airportsâ operating platform,â the company said. âBacked by [BOMâs] stable asset base and cash flows and operational excellence, the notes are expected to be rated BBB-/stable.â
Adani Airports CEO Arun Bansal said the success of the bond issuance reflects the ârobust fundamentals of Mumbai International Airport and our commitment to sustainable infrastructure development,â adding the company aims to âdeepen our access to global pools of capital.â
The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India recently changed the passenger user fee structure at BOM, increasing fees on international travelers, another means of providing more money to the airport.
Construction of the new Terminal 1 is expected to be completed by 2028 or 2029, with the existing structure slated for demolition during the initial phase. Terminal 2 and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) will handle displaced capacity during the redevelopment.
Adani Airports Holdings is also spearheading the development of NMI, which is targeted to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025. The $2 billion project broke ground in August 2021. While an exact opening date has not been confirmed, a NOTAM issued in May by the Airports Authority of India indicated operations will not commence before Aug. 6.

Updated Sasc Reconciliation Bill Directs $1 Billion To X-37BLawmakers want to give the U.S. Space Force $1 billion to support the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle program under the proposed budget reconciliation bill, congressional documents show.
The Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) on June 25 released updated legislative language of the defense portion of the reconciliation bill, hailing the collaboration with its House counterpart and with the White House and Defense Department.
The proposed $1 billion plus-up for the X-37B program is part of a pot of money dedicated to the âEnhancement of Department of Defense Resources to Improve United States Indo-Pacific Command,â with a five-year authorization period, according to legislation text shared by SASC Chairman Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).
The U.S. Space Force maintains two Boeing-built unmanned, reusable X-37B spacecraft, while the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) manages the program. Queries to SASC, the U.S. Space Force and the Air Force RCO regarding the funding increase were not answered by press time June 25. A Boeing spokesperson referred queries to the U.S. Space Force.
The X-37B completed its seventh mission March 7 after more than 434 days in orbit. During that mission, the spaceplane was launched for the first time on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket and debuted operations in a highly elliptical orbit, before conducting a novel aerobreaking maneuver to shift into low Earth orbit.
With Mission 7 complete, the X-37B has spent more than 4,208 days on orbit since it was first launched on April 22, 2010. The Space Force is using the system as an on-orbit testbed and data collector in order to evaluate new technologies, to better understand similar adversarial platforms and to design new training environments, Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman told Aviation Week in January.

Kazakhstan, China Launch $66.4B Industrial Projects DealKazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov led a meeting focused on Kazakhstan-China collaboration to review the advancement of investment projects agreed upon during discussions between Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Xi Jinping of China, as reported by the Government's press service via Kazinform News Agency.
In Kazakhstan, 224 industrial projects totaling 66.4 billion US dollars are being undertaken with the involvement of Chinese investors. Approximately 50,000 jobs will be created. China is listed as one of the top five biggest investors in Kazakhstan's economy, having invested 26.4 billion US dollars in the country from 2005 to 2024.
The PM emphasized that the recent trip of Chinaâs President to Kazakhstan encouraged collaboration between the two nations and underscored the significance of the Industrial and Innovation Cooperation Forum Central Asia â China conducted in Astana. Eighty commercial contracts totaling 24 billion US dollars were signed alongside the forum.
He reminded Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the goal to secure at least 150 billion US dollars in foreign investments by 2029. In this regard, collaboration with China, a major economic force and Kazakhstan's essential investment ally, continues to be the nation's primary focus. President Xi Jinping's recent visit to Kazakhstan, prompted by an invitation from the Head of State, reaffirmed the strong political and economic ties between the two countries.

PM Beketnov emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts in the Abai, East Kazakhstan, and West Kazakhstan regions, fostering collaboration with partners, and presenting specific initiatives. The meeting centered on the creation of new agreements established between the regions and Chinese partners during the Central Asia-China Forum.
The Almaty region finalized seven agreements totaling more than 6 billion US dollars, encompassing initiatives in the green economy, logistics, agro-industrial complex, and manufacturing sector. The city of Astana, along with the Kyzylorda and Turkistan regions, proposed their initiatives in the infrastructure, agro-industrial, and manufacturing sectors.
After the meeting, state and local executive authorities were tasked with ensuring the implementation of the signed agreements.

The clean energy manufacturing industry in the United States is no longer a niche segment. It has become a central pillar of the national economy. As of 2025, the sector supports approximately 122,000 jobs and contributes $18 billion to the US gross domestic product. This momentum has been fueled by federal incentives, state-level clean energy mandates, and a global push for sustainable technologies. Yet, amid this growth, looming policy shifts threaten to slow progress and destabilize a key component of the countryâs industrial future.
Clean energy manufacturing has emerged as a significant economic force. According to data from the American Clean Power Association, the sector is projected to reach $86 billion in GDP contribution and support 579,000 jobs by 2030. That represents a fivefold increase in jobs and more than quadruples the current GDP contribution.
Solar manufacturing leads this growth. The segment includes more than 90 facilities and employs over 75,000 workers. It generates $5.9 billion in earnings and contributes $11.5 billion to the economy. The average salary in clean energy manufacturing exceeds the national average by $42,000, offering high-quality jobs that support middle-class households.
Federal legislation has been pivotal to the sectorâs expansion. The Inflation Reduction Act, passed in 2022, provided robust incentives for domestic manufacturing, which helped drive capital investment and accelerate project development. Since then, dozens of new manufacturing plants have been announced or have begun operations, particularly in solar panel and battery production.
However, recent regulatory uncertainty has created a chilling effect on further investments. Tariff adjustments, supply chain reviews, and a lack of clarity on long-term policy commitments have led to delays and cancellations of planned facilities. Industry leaders caution that without consistent support, the US risks losing its foothold in clean energy manufacturing to international competitors.
States such as Ohio, Georgia, and Texas have become hubs for clean energy manufacturing due to available workforce, tax incentives, and robust transportation infrastructure. In Dalton, Georgia, the expansion of a major solar panel facility has added over 1,000 jobs and attracted secondary suppliers, giving new life to the local economy.
In Ohio, a battery manufacturing plant has partnered with local colleges to develop training programs that prepare students for high-tech manufacturing roles. These examples show how regional cooperation and investment can drive both economic growth and workforce readiness.
Looking ahead, the clean energy manufacturing sector holds enormous potential. Projections suggest nearly 600,000 jobs and an $86 billion GDP contribution by 2030. With global competition intensifying, the US faces a pivotal moment. Through coordinated action and long-term planning, clean energy manufacturing can anchor the next phase of American industrial leadership.

Siemens is making a significant play for the future of American industry. The new Fort Worth, Texas, facility represents one of Siemensâ largest US investments. Digital twin technology, which refers to virtual representations of physical systems, will be central to this integration. These tools support predictive maintenance, rapid prototyping, and higher-quality output. Siemensâ approach centers on building intelligent manufacturing environments that can adapt and improve over time.
The result is a system designed not only to increase production but also to raise standards in precision, adaptability, and efficiency.
People remain essential to Siemensâ strategy. The company is forging partnerships with trade schools, community colleges, and municipal programs to cultivate skilled labor. Programs focus on automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing, helping bridge a persistent talent gap in the industry.

Startup Jetzero To Build $4.7B Factory In North CarolinaFounded in 2021, JetZero has garnered attention across the airline industry for its promise to build âmiddle market,â more fuel efficient aircraft.Â
JetZero is aiming to take on the market by offering a wider design that tackles what the startup says are some of the key pain points with current aircraft. Its signature Z4 plane will feature a wider boarding door and more passenger sections that prioritize personal space and individual overhead bins, according to a release. The startup also claims its planes will feature 50% better fuel efficiency as a result of its all-wing design.Â
Each plane will seat 250 passengers and be able to fly routes up to 5,000 nautical miles.Â
Both Alaska Airlines and United Airlines have invested in the company, as well as signed conditional purchase agreements.Â
JetZero is partnering with Siemens to integrate digitial and industrial artificial intelligence tools across the new factory. The two companies will also work together to build JetZeroâs prototype, set to take flight in 2027.Â
The startup also plans to work with the state's community college system to create a talent pipeline for the thousands of jobs it promises to spur.Â
"Weâve already discussed the companyâs unique workforce needs and outlined a detailed customized training plan which will be developed through our NCEdge program," John Loyack, vice president of economic development for the North Carolina Community College System, said in a statement. "In a joint effort with Guilford Technical Community College and other colleges in the region, weâre excited to move forward into implementing a customized program.â
The project will be aided by a sizable state grant that spans the next 37 years. JetZero, which is calculated to grow the economy by $259.4 billion over that time, could then receive more than $1 billion in state incentives, according to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
The Southeast is becoming a growing hub for aerospace manufacturing. Boeing, which has produced its Dreamliner planes in South Carolina since 2007, is in the midst of a $1 billion expansion to the campus as it looks to ramp production of the planes.Â
Boeing supplier Williams International is expanding further south in Florida, where it's building a $1 billion gas-powered turbine engine manufacturing site.Â
Finally, fellow startup Archer Aviation began production at its Georgia factory in January. The air taxi manufacturer hopes to produce 650 electric takeoff and landing aircraft a year by 2030.

Jabil Plans $500 Million Investment In U.S. Manufacturing For Cloud, Ai InfrastructureJabil, a provider of engineering, supply chain and manufacturing solutions, announced that it would invest $500 million to expand its footprint in the southeastern part of the U.S. to support cloud and AI data center infrastructure customers.
The St. Petersburg, Florida-based company said the funds would enable new large-scale manufacturing capabilities, capital investments and workforce development.
Jabil is in the final stages of site selection and expects it to be operational by mid-calendar year 2026.
"To secure America's future in artificial intelligence, it's crucial that we build the hardware that powers AI innovation right here at home," said Matt Crowley, executive VP of Jabil's global business units. "Domestic manufacturing isn't just an economic priority; it's a matter of national security."
The investment builds upon Jabil's recent acquisition of Mikros Technologies, a New Hampshire-based provider of liquid cooling and thermal management solutions. Mikros serves a range of industries, including AI data center infrastructure, energy storage, and semiconductor testing.
"While the geopolitical landscape remains dynamic, our position as a U.S.-based company with a significant domestic footprint enables us to help the worldâs leading brands navigate challenges with agility and resilience," CEO Mike Dastoor said.

Panattoni Secures âŹ800 Million Loan From Erste GroupPanattoni has obtained a substantial financing package totalling approximately âŹ800 million in investment loans from Erste Group to back its development of industrial and logistics projects across PolandÂ
"The loan obtained from our Austrian banking partner, Erste Group Bank AG, will enable us to complete Panattoni Park Warsaw West â one of the key investments in the capital region. The latest hall at Panattoni Park Warsaw West is a 16,460 sqm building being developed for logistics operator XBS Logistics. The entire park will comprise over 90,000 sqm of modern industrial space and is already fully commercialised.
