Harbour Energy welcomes the approval of development funding for the Viking CCS project, marking an important step in progressing the project towards a final investment decision in this Parliament, subject to project readiness and affordability.

The funding will support further technical and commercial work needed to progress Viking CCS as Harbour Energy continues to work with Government, regulators and stakeholders to advance the project.

Graeme Davies, Executive Vice President, Global CCS, Harbour Energy, said:

'Harbour Energy welcomes the approval of development funding for Viking CCS. This milestone sends a strong signal that the Viking CCS project can make a significant contribution to industrial investment and economic activity in the Humber.

'We will work with Government on the critical steps needed to progress Viking CCS towards a final investment decision following our completion of Front-End Engineering Design and approval of the onshore pipeline Development Consent Order earlier in 2025.'

Viking CCS is Harbour Energy’s operated CO2 transport and storage project in the Humber, designed to support decarbonisation in one of the UK’s most industrialised regions. The project completed FEED in Q1 2025 and secured Development Consent for its onshore pipeline in April 2025.

The project remains subject to relevant regulatory approvals, commercial arrangements and final investment decisions.
