NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), on behalf of NTPC UP Green Energy Limited, has invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package for the development of a 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. The deadline for bid submission is July 10, 2026.

According to the tender specifications, the selected bidder will be responsible for the complete design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the BESS. The scope also includes integration of the BESS with the solar plant infrastructure and the grid at the point of interconnection. Furthermore, the battery system is required to have a design life of 25 years and batteries rated for at least 10,000 operating cycles. The selected bidder is also required to provide comprehensive operation and maintenance, insurance, and warranty support for a period of 15 years.

Earlier this month, NGEL invited bids for the EPC package for the development of a 3,200 MWh BESS project at the NTPC REL Fatehgarh solar plant.
