Operating company Compagnie du TransGuinéen (CTG) has presented plans for operating passenger rail transport services on the nearly completed 650 km Trans-Guinea Railway line between the Simandou iron ore deposits and the new port of Morebaya. According to CTG, ten stations are planned along the line, at least one for each prefecture served. The line is scheduled to open towards the end of 2026. Contractually, CTG has up to two years to make the stations operational for freight and passenger transport. Since locomotives and other rolling stock are already available, CTG expects a shorter timeframe. Up to two train pairs per day are planned. The line is primarily designed for transporting up to 120 million t of iron ore per year to a new export terminal, but according to CTG, it is also open to other operators.
