SteelNew schools will be established in the governorates of Alexandria, Suez, and Menoufia, offering specialized education in mechatronics and the steel industry. The project will be implemented as part of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education's strategy to expand applied technology education in cooperation with the private sector and international partners.
According to the ministry, the initiative aims to develop highly qualified technical professionals equipped with the technological knowledge and practical skills required by both local and international labor markets.
The Applied Technology Schools will follow an education model that integrates academic instruction with practical training conducted in real production environments. Students will receive education based on modern technical training systems and graduate with internationally recognized certificates, enabling them to enter the labor market with stronger professional qualifications.
The project brings together Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education, one of the country's leading steel producers,
, and Italian engineering company
, a global supplier of iron and steelmaking equipment and technologies.
The following schools are scheduled to begin operations in the 2026/2027 academic year:
The new schools are being launched as part of the expansion of Egypt's
model, introduced in 2018. Operating in line with international standards, these schools combine general education, technical specialization, and practical training through a competency-based education system.
The programs cover a wide range of sectors, including artificial intelligence, telecommunications, industrial automation, logistics, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, engineering, textiles, and steel.
According to ministry data, approximately
were enrolled in
across Egypt during the 2024/2025 academic year. During the same period, the number of Applied Technology Schools reached
, while an additional
are planned to be converted into either Applied Technology Schools or dual education institutions.
The new Ezz Steel schools also form part of a broader technical education partnership between Egypt and Italy. In November 2025, the two countries signed cooperation protocols to establish
across various technical disciplines.
