Bac Ninh province is progressing with phase 2 of the Gia Binh airport project, led by the Ministry of Public Security. The project aims to upgrade the airport into a facility capable of serving international diplomatic delegations, as well as passenger and cargo transportation, covering an area of over 400 hectares. The runway will be extended from 3.050m to 4.500m to accommodate the world’s largest aircraft. Both phases of the project are expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with Bac Ninh authorities preparing to submit the upgraded plan for government approval.
Efforts are underway to ensure smooth site clearance, with tasks such as mapping and relocating graves scheduled to be completed before Lunar New Year. Additionally, logistics and waterway port systems will be developed to establish Gia Binh as an international logistics hub. The Department of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security are collaborating closely to coordinate the project’s implementation.
