Bmw Spartanburg Plant Unveils Expanded Assembly Line

SPARTANBURG, SC—BMW's plant in Spartanburg has unveiled its newly expanded assembly line following a nearly $2 billion investment. The expansion, which increased the assembly hall by over 50%, positions the plant to produce fully electric, hybrid, and internal combustion vehicles as part of BMW's "Technology Openness Approach." 

The upgrades will enable the production of at least six fully electric models by 2030. High-voltage batteries for these vehicles will be assembled nearby at the forthcoming Plant Woodruff, slated for completion in 2025. 

BMW’s presence in South Carolina over the past 30 years has been transformative, with $14.8 billion invested and an annual economic impact of $26.7 billion, according to the University of South Carolina. As the largest U.S. exporter of vehicles by value, BMW continues to strengthen its global supply chain from Spartanburg, with a vision encapsulated in its motto: "Building Legacy - Driving Future."
