Ontario is investing $93 million to expand Ornge Air Ambulance services, including adding two larger, high-speed fixed-wing aircraft, constructing a new hangar at Lake Simcoe Regional Airport in Oro-Medonte, and improving pre-hospital care.
The new aircraft can handle long-distance transports and specialized care needs, doubling transport capacity. The investment also includes hiring 102 new frontline staff and enhancing emergency mental health and culturally appropriate care for Indigenous communities. This follows a previous $118 million investment to expand Ornge's fixed-wing fleet and build a larger hangar in Sudbury.
