The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, alongside Revel, has officially opened its new electric vehicle charging station at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), more than doubling its current available supply.

The new station, which is situated within the airport’s for-hire vehicle (FHV) hold lot, is accessible via the Van Wyck Expressway or Belt Parkway and has been equipped with 24 brand-new EV chargers.

The installation of the chargers forms part of the Port Authority’s overall goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

As we work toward a cleaner, more sustainable future, expanding access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure is a crucial step in reducing emissions.

These fast chargers at JFK are a significant step forward in our broader efforts to support a greener transportation network.

With the the new chargers, JFK now houses a total of 46 EV fast charging ports on site, all of which are available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In addition to the JFK’s new charging station, Revel intends to install a new fast-charging site outside LaGuardia Airport later this year. Fitted with 48 chargers, it is set to be the largest of its kind within the country and located at 90-10 Ditmars Boulevard in East Elmhurst, Queens.

Currently, the Port Authority employs the use of 1,400 electric ground service vehicles across its airport sites, with 775 electric ground service chargers currently in use for equipment including baggage tractors and airplane tow vehicles.

As part of its net-zero emissions goal; the Port Authority has also pledged to electrify its entire light duty fleet, as well as its ground service equipment fleet, by 2028 and 2035, respectively.

The Port Authority and its private partners like Revel are leading the charge in building a net-zero future, and this latest expansion of two dozen more fast chargers at JFK is a major boost in that work.

More access to electric vehicle charging equipment helps advance our sustainability goals and reaffirms our agency’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
