Despite Simferopol Airport remaining closed since 24 February 2022, Crimea welcomed over 6 million tourists in 2024, a 16% increase from the previous year. According to regional head Sergey Aksyonov, most visitors arrived via the Crimean Bridge by bus or car, while others travelled by train.
In addition, a new single-track railway will be built to Simferopol International Airport, with the project receiving approval from the Main State Expert Review Authority (Glavgosexpertiza). This was announced by Mikhail Goncharov, General Director of Crimean Railways.
The project, part of the state programme "Construction", includes 14 km of electrified railway, the construction of 21 artificial structures, and a passenger pavilion with platforms.
