Alkane Resources has delivered a string of standout high-grade antimony-gold hits at Kendal, adjacent to the Youle lode at its Costerfield operation in central Victoria.
The Kendal system is the antimony-rich, up-dip continuation of the high-grade Youle and Shepherd deposits, where mining is currently underway.
Over the past year, infill and extension drilling has significantly expanded the known footprint of the vein system, both alongside and beyond historic workings.
While mining took place in the area between 1861 and 1939, the latest program has uncovered substantial veining that went undetected by historic operators, highlighting the benefits of modern exploration techniques and close-spaced drilling.
“The drilling results obtained from the Kendal deposit over the past year demonstrate the large potential remaining for significant high-grade mineralisation at shallow levels near to the Costerfield mine,” Alkane Resources managing director and chief executive officer Nic Earner said.
“Accessing and mining the newly defined mineralisation is a top priority for the Costerfield team and should provide the processing plant with an additional source of high-grade gold and antimony ore for some time to come.”
Recent results confirm multiple zones of very high gold and antimony grades across both the 501 and 520 veins, including several bonanza-style intercepts.
The 520 vein alone extends for more than 500m along strike and up to 200m vertically, underlining the scale of the emerging opportunity close to existing infrastructure.
Development to access the extended Kendal system began in late 2025 and remains ongoing as drilling continues, positioning Kendal as a near-mine growth opportunity for Costerfield.
