Westgold Resources has yielded several high-grade intervals from a maiden drilling program at the Fletcher zone within the Beta Hunt mine in Western Australia.

Recent drilling at Fletcher hit 41m at 7.99 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 19m at 5.95g/t gold from drillhole FF475SP-62AE, and 38m at 6.8g/t gold from WF440VD-55AE,

Westgold began drilling activities at Fletcher in November 2024 with two rigs, and has since expanded this to five.

With 74 per cent of the Fletcher drilling program completed to date, the company is expected to provide a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) in the fourth quarter of the 2024–25 financial year (FY25).

“Westgold is mining two zones at Beta Hunt now – Fletcher will be the third,” Westgold managing director and chief executive officer Wayne Bramwell said. “We already have access into Fletcher and once drilled, it will be an additional and independent source of ore production.”

Westgold plans to commence exploration at the Mason zone, a potential southern extension of Fletcher, in the fourth quarter of FY25. Bramwell said it’s too early to speculate on the scale and significance of Mason.

“Historical drilling results here are encouraging, with some of the better results including 19m at 10.73g/t gold, 35.35m at 3.50g/t gold, 38m at 2.87g/t gold and 5.20m at 20.67g/t gold,” Bramwell said.

“Our early interpretation is Mason is the faulted offset of the Fletcher zone, and if so would take the combined strike length to circa 4km.”

Westgold’s strategic focus remains on building a robust understanding of Beta Hunt’s orebodies to maximise long-term cash flow.

The company said Fletcher will be a separate and independent source of production, and the maiden MRE will be the base of a robust mine plan and infrastructure strategy to maintain a natural production rate of the mineralised system.
