Azule Energy, in collaboration with its partners, has announced the successful completion of the Quiluma and Maboqueiro offshore platforms, a cornerstone of the New Gas Consortium (NGC) project. This achievement represents a significant step forward in Angola’s first non-associated gas development, underscoring the nation’s growing leadership in the global energy sector.

To celebrate this milestone in Angola’s first non-associated gas development, Azule Energy and its partners witnessed, on 11 February, the load out and sail away ceremony of the Quiluma deck in Ambriz Petromar Yard.

The event highlighted the project’s remarkable safety record, with 2.5 million man-hours completed without a single Lost Time Injury (LTI)—a testament to the firm commitment to safety and operational excellence.

The NGC project is a joint venture between Azule Energy, Sonangol E&P, Chevron, and TotalEnergies. As the country’s first non-associated gas initiative, it will play a key role in ensuring a reliable supply of gas to the Soyo LNG plant, bolstering Angola’s energy security and supporting its economic growth.

Alister Forder, Chief Operating Officer of Azule Energy, emphasized the significance of this achievement: 'Today’s milestone is a reflection of the collaborative spirit, technical expertise, and dedication of all partners involved in the NGC project. As we prepare for NGC First Gas, this project reaffirms our commitment to unlocking Angola’s energy potential and contributing to a sustainable energy future'.

The NGC project encompasses the exploration and production of gas from the Quiluma and Maboqueiro shallow water fields. It features two offshore platforms - Quiluma and Maboqueiro - and an onshore gas processing plant. Together, these facilities will harness Angola’s natural gas resources, delivering economic and environmental benefits.
