Oil & GasROSEN Group has expanded its pipeline inspection capabilities with the launch of MFL-A Plus, an enhanced data analysis service designed to improve the detection and classification of small-scale corrosion in pipelines.
Building on ROSEN’s existing RoCorr axial magnetic flux leakage (MFL-A) technology, the new service addresses long-standing industry challenges in identifying pinhole anomalies and axial slotting.
Rather than modifying field hardware, MFL-A Plus upgrades the data analysis process itself, using advanced models trained on laser-mapped corrosion features to deliver more consistent, standardized results.
The technology allows pipeline operators to gain higher-precision reporting without changing tool configurations, operational logistics, or field deployment strategies.
Additionally, the pipeline wall is magnetized during standard inspection runs, with local magnetic field disturbances recorded and subsequently analyzed through the enhanced workflow.
According to company officials, the upgraded service provides systematic reporting for all anomaly categories established by Pipeline Operators Forum (POF) specifications.

By reducing variability tied to manual data interpretation, the enhanced analysis offers operators a clearer picture of complex corrosion populations and high-density feature areas.
This improved clarity supports more accurate structural integrity assessments and long-term risk management for critical pipeline infrastructure.
Positioned between standard MFL-A and the ultra-high-resolution MFL-A Ultra service, MFL-A Plus provides operators with a flexible evaluation option tailored to asset criticality and corrosion complexity.
The service has been active in commercial operations since 2023. Initially launched in Canada, the methodology has expanded across North America and select Asian markets, completing more than 150 pipeline inspection projects to date across various operating conditions.
