This July the CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal passed 5 million TEU in throughput since its opening in December 2018. Following on from this important milestone, a further surge in traffic is expected in 2024, as already this year six new services have started operating at the terminal, boosting the number of vessel calls by over 30% in the process. Container traffic between January and June is reported to have been running at close to 50% higher than in the equivalent period in 2023, suggesting a new full-year record for the terminal is on the cards.
Last year CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal implemented the first autonomous truck system in the Middle East with six automated trucks supporting container loading and unloading at Khalifa Port. The vehicles are equipped with advanced traffic monitoring, driving guidance and 360-degree sensory systems, providing advantages in terms of operational efficiency and significantly reduced carbon emissions. Looking ahead, CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal says it is âcommitted to developing intelligent port solutions, upgrading automation and promoting green, low-carbon operations.â
