Waaree Energies’ Chikhli facility in the Indian state of Gujarat has been added to the MNRE’s ALMM with an approved capacity of 16.444 GW. The listing brings Waaree’s total solar module manufacturing capacity in India to 20.17 GW, including capacity from Indosolar.
The updated ALMM entry includes high-efficiency module lines produced at Chikhli, including G12R tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon), G12 TOPCon, and G12 heterojunction (HJT) modules, expanding the company’s range of certified technologies for Indian projects.
“The inclusion of advanced TOPCon and HJT modules positions us strongly to meet evolving project requirements while reinforcing supply chain confidence for developers and policymakers alike,” said Sunil Rathi, executive director of Waaree Group.

Us Market On Course To Hit 737.8 Gw Of Solar By 2035The U.S. is on track to deploy 737.8 GW of solar by the end of 2035, according to analysis by London-based consultancy firm GlobalData.
GlobalData says the U.S will add 47.9 GW of solar in 2025, slightly below the record 49 GW deployed in 2024.
The annual deployment rate is then expected to slow, with GlobalData projecting 42.2 GW of added solar in 2026, 44.8 GW in 2027, 41.7 GW in 2028 and 41.6 GW in 2029. At the end of the decade, the U.S. cumulative solar capacity is on course to stand at 449.6 GW.
Annual deployments are forecast to begin increasing in the early 2030s, with GlobalData projecting 42.7 GW of new solar in 2030, 44.8 GW in 2031, 47.9 GW in 2032 and 49.8 GW in 2033. The U.S. is then expected to surpass the 50 GW threshold in 2034 and 2035, with annual deployments of 51 GW and 52 GW, leading to 737.8 GW by the end of 2035.
Total renewables capacity in the U.S. is set to reach 1.06 TW by 2035, GlobalData’s analysis adds, more than doubling from the 414.5 GW recorded at the end of 2024.
The consultancy’s analysis says solar deployment over the next ten years will be driven by state procurement targets, distributed generation policies, net billing and net metering frameworks, and large-scale utility contracting across key markets such as Texas, California and the Midwest.
However, trade and tariff measures introduced in 2025 have added cost pressure and uncertainty for renewables reliant on imported components, while higher input costs have slowed project timelines, increased capital requirements and contributed to delays and cancellations.
Mohammed Ziauddin, power analyst at GlobalData, said despite policy shifts and tariff-related cost pressures, renewable energy remains the primary driver of capacity growth in the U.S. power sector through to 2035.
Ziauddin added that between 2025 and 2030, renewable investment is expected to reach around $442.2 billion, which he said reflects the scale of ongoing solar and wind development across key regional markets.
“Solar and wind continue to expand at scale, supported by state policies and private sector demand, while gas and nuclear investments address capacity adequacy and longer-term system needs,” Ziauddin concluded. “Together, these trends are reshaping the U.S. electricity system into a more diversified and resilient market over the long term.”

National Grid Connects 2.4 Gw In 2025UK: National Grid delivered a record year for electricity connections in 2025, plugging 2.4 GW of new generation into the transmission network. Six major projects were completed, with landmark renewable schemes at the heart of the programme, including Britain’s largest solar farm and its biggest battery energy storage system.
The work builds on the 3 GW of new connections achieved in 2024, which featured a new interconnector between Wales and Ireland. Over the last five years, National Grid has connected 12.6 GW of generation capacity across England and Wales.
In April, Britain’s largest solar array, the 373 MW Cleve Hill Solar Park, started exporting electricity after National Grid completed connection works at its Cleve Hill substation in Kent. Later in September, National Grid finished upgrades and commissioning at the Lackenby substation in North Yorkshire, preparing the site for RWE’s Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, one of the largest offshore wind projects in the world.
Battery storage was another major focus. Over the summer, Statera Energy’s Thurrock Storage project, the UK’s largest battery energy storage system, connected to National Grid’s Tilbury substation in Essex, adding 300 MW of flexible capacity for London and the South East. In total, more than 400 MW of additional battery storage connections were completed during 2025, with projects across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.
National Grid also delivered nearly 0.5 GW of demand connections. In November, the company energised its new Little Horsted substation in East Sussex, enabling UK Power Networks to supply homes and businesses and meet rising demand. Elsewhere, upgrades at Willesden supported power supply for a new data centre.
By working closely with developers and its supply chain, National Grid is helping to decarbonise the power system while ensuring reliable electricity for homes and businesses.

Pv Industry Urges New York City To Double Solar Target, Add 2 Gw Of StorageFrom pv magazine USA
The New York Solar Energy Industries Association has recommended nine ways for the administration of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to speed solar and storage deployment in the city, in a “solar+storage playbook.”
The playbook’s top proposal is for the city of 8.5 million people to raise its solar goal to 2 GW by 2035 and create a new storage goal of 2 GW by 2030. That “matters,” the playbook says, because the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) projects that New York City could have reliability shortfalls over the next several years, and distributed solar and storage “are our fastest and cheapest tools” to meet the city’s needs for clean, reliable power.
The playbook calls for Mamdani to lift a “de facto ban” on residential batteries in the city by supporting a city council bill that would align the city’s fire code with New York State’s recently enacted fire code. The bill would enable “safe residential and medium[-sized]” batteries that meet rigorous UL safety standards, and help provide resilience to power outages, the playbook says.
Describing New York City as a “load pocket,” with high density and high peak electrical demand, the playbook also asks Mamdani to call on utility Con Edison to grant community-scale batteries “transparent and fair access” to the distribution grid.
Rooftop solar
The city’s Department of Buildings, the playbook says, should enable owners of large buildings to purchase renewable energy credits from owners of small buildings who install solar, which would help the large building owners comply with the city’s Local Law 97, which requires them to reduce their buildings’ greenhouse gas emissions.
To speed electrical inspections for solar projects, the playbook says the Department of Buildings should either enable self-certification of projects, or authorize the use of special inspection agencies.
The playbook recommends detailed action items for each recommended policy. In two programmatic strategies, it recommends launching public education campaigns to promote clean energy adoption and acceptance, and scaling up solar-plus-storage at city-owned buildings.
Distributed solar and storage “will play a critical role” in the mayor-elect’s commitment to affordability, the report says. “These technologies lower energy costs for families, improve resilience against outages, and advance climate goals – all while creating good-paying jobs in New York City.”

India Tenders 1 Gw Of Pumped Storage To Bolster Grid-Scale Energy StorageFrom ESS News
Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI), a public sector company of the Indian government and the nation's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has announced a new pumped storage initiative for sites across the widespread country.
SECI has started accepting bids to develop 1 GW/8 GWh, or an eight-hour pumped storage capacity resource aimed at providing large-scale, on-demand energy storage services to power distribution companies and other buying entities.
Bidders may quote a minimum cumulative capacity of 100 MW/800 MWh and a maximum of 1 GW/8 GWh, with all projects designed for eight hours of storage. Developers with existing or under-construction pumped storage projects and untied capacity are also eligible, with provisions for extended power purchase agreement tenures.

Taiwan On Track To Deploy 31.2 Gw Of Solar By 2035Taiwan is on track to reach 31.2 GW of solar by 2035, according to figures from UK consulting company GlobalData.
The island is expected to add 1.1 GW of solar this year, taking cumulative capacity to 15.4 GW. GlobalData is then projecting annual growth additions between 1 GW and 2 GW over the analyzed period, helping Taiwan to surpass 20 GW of solar in 2029 and 30 GW in 2035.
This growth trajectory would see solar extend its position as Taiwan’s leading form of renewables. The island’s total renewable power capacity is on course to reach around 50.7 GW by 2035, up from 19.1 GW in 2024, with solar accounting for over 61% of the 2035 figure.
GlobalData said Taiwan’s solar growth will be supported by rooftop deployment programs, floating solar projects and utility-scale installations. The country completed its phase-out of nuclear power in May this year and is now shifting its focus to expanding renewable energy and flexible gas-fired generation to replace lost baseload supply. Gas-based power capacity is expected to increase from around 20.1 GW in 2024 to approximately 40.9 GW in 2035, according to GlobalData's figures.
Mohammed Ziauddin, power analyst for GlobalData, said that Taiwan’s policy focus has intensified on solar, energy storage, offshore wind and grid upgrades in order to maintain system reliability while meeting the rising industrial electricity demand of a fully isolated power system.
“Offshore wind and solar PV are reshaping the generation mix, while gas remains essential for reliability in an isolated and import-dependent system,” Ziauddin explained. “This balanced pathway supports Taiwan’s net-zero ambitions while safeguarding power system resilience through 2035.”

Tata Power Renewable Completes 1 Gw Dcr-Compliant Pv Project For SjvnFrom pv magazine India
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned SJVN’s 1 GW DCR-compliant solar power project in Rajasthan. This milestone represents the largest solar project commissioned by TPREL to date and one of the most expansive renewable energy developments in India.
All 2.4 million modules used in the project have been manufactured at TP Solar’s solar cell and modules manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli.
Spanning the Bandarwala and Karnisar Bhatiyan sites in Bikaner, the project is designed to deliver clean, reliable power across multiple states. The project’s capacity is allocated to serve key state utilities, including 500 MW for Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd. (RUVITL), 300 MW for Jammu & Kashmir Power Ltd. (JKPL), and 200 MW for Uttarakhand Power Corp. Ltd. (UPCL).
In its first year of operation, the project is expected to generate approximately 2,454.84 million units of green electricity and offset nearly 1.74 million tonnes of CO₂, making a significant contribution to national decarbonisation goals.
“The project stands out for its robust engineering and innovative execution, having been delivered in one of India’s most challenging environments, with temperatures soaring to 50°C in peak summers and dropping to as low as 3 C in winters, compounded by difficult terrain and restricted vehicle movement,” stated TPREL. “Despite these constraints, TPREL ensured timely and safe completion through the deployment of advanced DCR-compliant cells and mono bifacial DCR modules, precision ramming techniques, and high-performance inverters engineered to operate efficiently under extreme heat.”
With this commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility-scale capacity has reached 11.6 GW, including 4.9 GW executed as third party EPC. Currently, 5.8 GW of Tata Power’s own capacity is operational, comprising 4.7 GW solar and 1.1 GW wind. An additional 5.8 GW is under various stages of implementation, evenly split between 3 GW solar and 2.8 GW wind projects, expected to be commissioned over the next three to 24 months in phases.

Ørsted completes sale of 50 per cent stake in 2.9 GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind project Ørsted has completed the divestment of a 50 per cent stake in the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm to funds managed by Apollo, following an earlier announcement in
. The transaction establishes joint ownership of the project and shared responsibility for future construction payments.
The total value of the deal is around DKK 39 billion, of which approximately DKK 20 billion is payable at closing. This includes a share purchase component of about DKK 10 billion and an initial construction payment of a similar size, with the remaining amount linked to future construction milestones. Total investment in the Hornsea 3 project remains in the range of DKK 70–75 billion.
Ørsted will remain responsible for the construction of Hornsea 3 under a full-scope engineering, procurement and construction contract. The company will also operate and maintain the wind farm from its East Coast base and provide electricity balancing services, as well as a long-term route to market for the power produced.
Hornsea 3 has a planned capacity of 2.9 GW and is located around 160 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast. Once operational, the wider Hornsea zone, comprising Hornsea 1, 2 and 3, is expected to exceed 5 GW of installed offshore wind capacity.

India Adds Record 44.5 Gw Renewable Capacity By November 2025; Solar Leads With 35 Gw, Total Capacity Hits 253.96 GwIndia has delivered a landmark performance in renewable energy deployment in 2025, adding a record 44.5 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy capacity up to November, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). This marks the highest annual renewable capacity addition ever recorded in the country and reflects a nearly 23 per cent year-on-year rise in total installed renewable capacity, which now stands at approximately 253.96 GW.
At the heart of this achievement is solar energy, which accounted for the bulk of the new capacity. Solar installations contributed about 35 GW to the total addition, a significant increase over the previous year. As a result, India’s cumulative solar capacity has surged to 132.85 GW, registering more than a 41 per cent increase compared to November 2024.
Wind energy also registered substantial growth, with 5.82 GW of new capacity added during the period. This brought the total installed wind capacity to nearly 54 GW, which is over 12.5 per cent higher than the figures from a year ago. Notably, wind capacity had already crossed the 50 GW threshold earlier in March 2025.
The strong performance this year is nearly double the clean energy capacity added during the same period in 2024, when approximately 24.7 GW was commissioned.
Residential solar adoption has kept pace with utility-scale growth. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship rooftop solar initiative, has now enabled over 25 lakh households to install rooftop solar systems, delivering cleaner power and reduced electricity bills for millions.
This exceptional growth underscores India’s accelerating transition toward sustainable energy sources, reinforcing its position among global renewable energy leaders and spotlighting solar power as a key driver of the nation’s clean energy future.

This is the largest solar project ever completed by TPREL and ranks among the biggest renewable energy installations in the country. The achievement highlights the company’s strong project execution capabilities. The entire project uses 2.4 million solar modules manufactured at Tata Power’s TP Solar Limited facility in Tirunelveli. By using domestically made DCR-compliant cells and modules, the project supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative and strengthens India’s progress toward building a self-reliant clean energy ecosystem.

Building the project required advanced engineering due to the harsh climatic conditions in the region. Temperatures can reach 50°C in summer and fall to 3°C in winter, and the area’s terrain restricts the movement of vehicles and machinery. Despite these challenges, TPREL delivered the project on time by using high-quality DCR-compliant mono bifacial modules, precision ramming techniques, and inverters designed to withstand extreme heat. The project has also created a positive social impact. More than 300 local workers were trained and employed during construction, and over 25 local vendors were brought into the supply chain. This has supported livelihoods and contributed to economic development in the surrounding areas.
With the successful completion of this major solar project, TPREL has strengthened its position as a reliable EPC partner for large-scale renewable energy projects across India. The company continues to play a key role in helping the country achieve its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and its goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2070. Following this commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility-scale portfolio has grown to 11.6 GW, including 4.9 GW delivered as third-party EPC projects. Hindustan Power Secures Nearly 1 Gw Solar And 0.75 Gwh Storage Across India, Including 435 Mwp Up Ppa And Seci 150 Mw Ists ProjectHindustan Power, under the leadership of Chairman Ratul Puri, has recently secured multiple renewable energy and battery storage projects across several Indian states, reflecting its ongoing commitment to expanding an integrated clean-energy portfolio and supporting the country’s energy transition. Since early 2025, the company has added nearly 1 GW of solar capacity and more than 0.75 GWh of energy storage. This expansion includes standalone solar plants as well as hybrid facilities that combine photovoltaic generation with battery storage, in line with government initiatives encouraging storage integration to meet evolving grid requirements.
Hindustan Power signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for a 435 MWp solar project. The company also secured an ISTS-connected project from SJVN Limited, involving the installation of 200 MWp of solar capacity along with over 250 MWh of battery storage. In Bihar, the company signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with the Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited for a 120 MWh standalone storage project across three substations. This project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model.
Hindustan Power’s most recent achievement is an ISTS-connected project awarded by SECI for a contracted capacity of 150 MW. The project will include around 300 MWp of solar generation and 360 MWh of battery storage. This award, secured through a competitive bidding and e-reverse auction process, further strengthens the company’s growing clean-energy and storage portfolio.
Chairman Ratul Puri commented that combining renewable generation with advanced storage enables the company to deliver flexible, dispatchable power solutions that reinforce state grids and accelerate India’s transition to sustainable energy. Through these developments, Hindustan Power continues to establish itself as a key player in India’s clean-energy landscape, supporting energy security while contributing to the nation’s shift toward sustainable power generation.
