RailwayIn a joint analysis, Allianz pro Schiene and SCI Verkehr have estimated the federal government’s per capita investment in the existing railway network for 2025 at EUR 222. According to the analysis, federal investment has risen once again over the last two years. At the same time, they called for long-term, reliable funding for the expansion and new construction of the German railway network. Whilst the two organisations welcome the high level of investment, they criticise the fact that, despite the special fund for infrastructure and climate neutrality, expansion and new-build projects continue to be given insufficient consideration. Allianz pro Schiene is therefore calling for a new funding framework with multi-year security, so that projects are not dependent on the federal budget on an annual basis. Furthermore, the Infraplan, which has been announced for years, and the railway infrastructure funds should be implemented swiftly. The basis for this is the phased approach to the Deutschlandtakt timetable scheme, which is intended to prioritise expansion and new construction measures for passenger rail transport and rail freight transport.
