The newly created role brings the Port’s Commercial and Business Development, Real Estate, Business Intelligence and Commercial Logistics & Transportation functions under a single commercial organisation, consolidating customer-facing operations that had previously sat across separate teams.

The appointment follows six years in which business development had operated under Omar Garcia, Chief External Affairs Officer, who balanced commercial development alongside external affairs duties.

Garcia will remain Chief External Affairs Officer, overseeing Strategic Communications, Marketing, Branding, Community Affairs and Government Relations.

He will also establish a new International Business Development Department, tasked with expanding global opportunities, strengthening ties with consulates and trading partners, and overseeing the Port’s Foreign Trade Zone and the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center.

Takizawa joined the port in 2022 as Director of Commercial and Business Development, where he worked on strategic partnerships and new business opportunities across the port’s commercial portfolio.

He brings more than two decades of international experience in commercial strategy and market development to the role.

Takizawa said: “I am honoured to assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer and continue serving the Port of Corpus Christi and our valued customers. As global markets continue to evolve, the Port is uniquely positioned to continue driving economic growth through its world-class infrastructure, strong industry partnerships and strategic commercial development.

“I look forward to working alongside our talented team, customers and stakeholders to drive strategic growth, enhance commercial value, unlock market opportunities and advance innovative initiatives that support the Port’s long-term vision for sustainable and responsible growth.”

Kent Britton, Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Corpus Christi, stated: “Our success depends on maintaining a disciplined balance between two priorities: establishing strong commercial agreements that create value for our customers and stakeholders, and ensuring we continue to invest in, maintain and protect the infrastructure that makes this port successful.

“Yudi’s commercial expertise, strategic mindset and ability to build trusted relationships make him exceptionally well-positioned to lead our commercial organization as we continue creating sustainable growth opportunities while advancing our vision to be the most efficient and innovative port in North America.”
