The Municipal Stadium is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Over the past decade, more than 4 million people have visited the venue, and this is just the beginning. The year 2025 promises to be a busy one for the entire community associated with the stadium.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Municipal Stadium, a ceremonial gala took place on January 11th at Słoneczna Street. It wasn’t an easy journey, but today this stadium is our pride. Not only is it beautiful, but it is above all functional. May it serve us for many more decades, said Tadeusz Truskolaski, Mayor of Białystok, during the event.

The Municipal Stadium, currently known as Chorten Arena, was under construction for over 4 years and cost more than 250 million PLN. Over its 10-year history, the venue, which can accommodate 22,372 spectators, has hosted more than 4 million visitors for matches, fairs, and other events. According to the CEO of the Municipal Stadium company, Cezary Mielko, speaking through Polish Radio Białystok, around 5,000 events and about 25,000 training sessions have taken place there.

During the gala, the CEO received a commemorative plaque from the Mayor of Białystok. I would like to thank the entire stadium community, including clubs, associations, the uniformed services, institutions, business partners, and my employees. Without all of you, we would not be where we are today, said Cezary Mielko. During the gala, Krzysztof Jemioło, the stadium’s greenkeeper, was also honored. He received the Honorary Badge of the Podlaskie Voivodeship from the Marshal of the region, Łukasz Prokorym.

Responsible for the turf, Jemioło will have his hands full in 2025, as a complete replacement of the turf at Jagiellonia's stadium is scheduled for June. The cost of this investment is approximately 3 million PLN. However, this is not the only change planned for the facility. On January 9th, an intentional letter was signed at Chorten Arena for a project involving the creation of a Jagiellonia Białystok inscription on the eastern stand. We want the inscription ‘Białystok’ and ‘Jagiellonia’ to promote our club and our region across Poland and Europe, especially now that we are successfully playing and hopefully will continue playing in European cups, said Adam Tołoczko, President of the Children of Białystok association.

The project will be submitted to the 2026 Citizens' Budget. However, the letter of intent is only the first step. After that, an application will need to be submitted for formal evaluation. If everything goes smoothly, a vote on its implementation will take place in the fall. According to calculations presented by the CEO of the Municipal Stadium company, the cost of the investment is approximately 300,000 PLN.

Earlier, in April, Chorten Arena may host an exceptional match. According to Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyki.pl, on April 24th, Białystok will host the long-awaited Polish Super Cup match, where Jagiellonia will face Wisła Kraków. This date has not yet been officially confirmed by the Polish Football Association (PZPN), but it seems that there will be no issues with this. This match was initially scheduled for July 2024, but due to both teams playing in the European cup qualifiers, it has been moved to an indefinite date.
