DETROIT (March 26, 2025) – Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is expanding its offerings with Corktown Place, DTW’s first store open 24 hours, seven days a week.
Named after Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, Corktown Place is located in the McNamara Terminal and offers a variety of news and convenience items. Within the store, which is operated by Paradies Lagardère, travelers will find a Pure Michigan boutique featuring Detroit brands and Michigan-made products. The boutique is an extension of the long-lasting relationship between the Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
“We are delighted to open our first 24-hour news and travel store, which is a direct response to feedback from our customers,” said WCAA CEO Chad Newton. “Now, regardless of the time, our customers have access to travel essentials, snacks, reading materials and most exciting of all, food, apparel and gifts produced here in Detroit and across our great state.”
“Corktown Place is more than just a store—it’s a celebration of the historic neighborhood’s unique character and charm,” said Vice President of Business Development for Paradies Lagardère Patrick Wallace. “We’re thrilled to offer this incredible retail option to the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and its travelers. Our collaboration with Pure Michigan and commitment to showcasing beloved local brands like The Mitten State, Cherry Republic and the Kalamazoo Candle Company reflect our dedication to creating meaningful, localized experiences for travelers.”
The opening of Corktown Place on February 21st is part of the McNamara Terminal Concession Program Transition that includes the addition of 12 new retail shops, six restaurants and two video game lounges. The new offerings will be introduced as current concessions contracts expire.
Paradies Lagardère, Delaware North, WH Smith North America/The Marshall Retail Group and Gameway, Inc. will operate the new concessions and invest a combined $18.8 million in capital improvements for their respective spaces. All concessions are scheduled to begin operations over the course of the next two years.
