ADK Consulting & Executive Search, a retained recruitment firm known for its expertise in senior executive searches in the aviation industry, announced it has completed its Concessions & Ground Transportation Manager search for The Ontario International Airport Authority. Alex Castillo, C.M., will be responsible for driving revenue growth across key business lines, including concessions, parking, and ground transportation at Ontario International Airport.
Mr. Castillo has a solid background in collaborating with airport representatives, tenants, and stakeholders to enhance the customer experience and uphold airport standards. Most recently, he served as the Airport Operations Manager for Hollywood Burbank Airport, where he managed a team of 23 staff members. While there, he acted as the Operations Project Manager for the design-build of a $1.3 billion replacement passenger terminal. Additionally, Mr. Castillo held the position of Airport Operations Supervisor at San José Mineta International Airport and worked as an Airport Operations Officer at Fresno Yosemite International Airport.

Sunshine Coast Airport’s domestic terminal will nearly double in size, adding gates, lounges, sustainable design features, and improved passenger experiences, with construction led by McNab.

Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) has appointed construction company McNab as the builder of its highly anticipated domestic Terminal Redevelopment Project. Global architectural firm Populous | Fentress Studios is designing the terminal, marking a major milestone in the expansion and growth of one of Australia’s fastest-growing airports.
The redevelopment will deliver a modern, sustainable, and passenger-focused expansion designed to meet future demand, improve efficiency, and enhance the travel experience for locals and visitors alike. The project will almost double the size of the terminal, increase departure gates from five to seven, and triple the departure lounge footprint.
Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Chris Mills said the appointment of McNab and Populous | Fentress Studios reflected the airport’s commitment to working with respected partners to deliver world-class outcomes for the region. Planned Performance are the project managers, and their proven expertise in Australian airport terminal expansions has been vital in guiding this project.
“The Terminal Redevelopment Project is a major milestone in the airport’s expansion with approximately $170 million being invested to support the future of our airport and our region,” Mr Mills said.
Mr Mills said the redevelopment would support local jobs, provide a significant boost to the economy, and strengthen the Sunshine Coast’s role as a key tourism and business gateway.
“Importantly this project has been shaped by community input, so the terminal reflects local needs and expectations with their insights directly influencing key design features, amenities, and the overall experience. From the look and feel of the terminal to how we welcome and serve travellers, locals helped shape more than just a space, they helped shape a better journey for everyone.”
“The redevelopment will also incorporate expanded retail and food offerings, latest technology for check-in and security, as well as sustainable design features building on existing initiatives,” Mr Mills added.
Sunshine Coast Airport Chair David Ryan said he was thrilled to see the project officially underway and pleased to have appointed a builder with such a strong reputation.
“McNab’s proven track record of delivering high-quality projects in our region gives us great confidence,” Mr Ryan said.
McNab CEO Kunjan Ganatra said the company was proud to bring its expertise to such a transformational project for the region.
“McNab has been contributing landmark projects to help shape the Sunshine Coast landscape since we opened our Maroochydore office in 2017, and this project is another step in building the region’s future,” he said.
“We will see around 2,000 people working on this project, with 90 per cent of trades and subcontractors coming from within our region. Together we will deliver a terminal our community can be proud of – one that combines smart design, sustainability and a strong sense of place.”
“This is not just about bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a space that will act as an entry statement to the Sunshine Coast and serve generations of locals and visitors, and we’re proud to be a part of it,” Mr Ganatra said.
Populous | Fentress Studios Asia Pacific Head of Aviation Matt Findlay said the terminal design would reflect the unique character of the Sunshine Coast while delivering a seamless passenger experience.
“Our vision for the terminal is to create a space that celebrates the Sunshine Coast’s natural beauty and lifestyle while providing travellers with a modern, efficient and welcoming gateway.
“The design prioritises natural light with sweeping views of the runway, allowing passengers to experience the excitement of aircraft arrivals and departures from the comfort of the terminal.
“By seamlessly integrating security and check-in, enhancing the arrival experience, and reducing the distance between check-in and boarding gates, we’re reimagining the terminal journey to be more intuitive, efficient, and welcoming for every passenger. Sustainability and accessibility remain at the heart of every design decision, alongside greater passenger seating and amenities,” Mr Findlay said.
The Terminal Redevelopment Project will be delivered in stages to minimise disruption to passengers and ensure continuity of operations. The first stage is already underway, with the new outbound checked baggage handling facility scheduled for completion in early 2026, and the full domestic terminal expansion to be completed by 2027. By 2030, Sunshine Coast Airport is forecast to welcome 2.4 million passengers annually.

Ontario International Airport Welcomes Brewery X And Chick-Fil-A Expansions, Adding Exciting New Dining Options For TraveleBrewery X, the popular craft brewer that opened its first airport location in Terminal 2 in November 2023, will open a second location in Terminal 4 across from Gate 408, next to ONT’s California Science Center interactive space. Brewery X’s presence at ONT is a unique expression of regional pride, partnering with a locally based business to deliver a distinctly Southern California experience for travelers. The Anaheim-based brewery also has introduced a signature ONT-branded blonde ale, “Come Fly With Me,” which has quickly become a top seller.

Both new locations are expected to open in the second quarter of 2026.

Perth Airport Expansion Plan To Include New Qantas Domestic TerminalPerth Airport (PER) has detailed expansion plans comprising multiple projects—including building a new domestic terminal—to accommodate expected passenger growth.
In a draft of a new master plan published for public comment, the Western Australian airport said it expects annual passengers to grow from around 17.5 million currently to 30.8 million in 2046. PER plans to complete a “multi-billion dollar” infrastructure improvement program by 2031 that will include expanding Terminal 1 and building a new domestic terminal to be used by Qantas Group.
Also planned is a new runway to be located parallel to PER’s main runway, a new 237-room hotel on airport grounds, and two new automobile parking garages.
“We have begun work on the largest private investment in infrastructure in Perth’s history, which will be delivered over the course of this five-year plan,” PER CEO Jason Waters said. “The time for talking is over. We are now delivering a once-in-a-generation construction program that will completely change the face of Perth Airport.”
The release of the master plan, which is expected to be finalized in 2026, comes as PER nears completion of an expansion of Terminal 2, which is expected to be finished in 2026.
The 3,000 m (9,843 ft.) parallel runway is anticipated to be operational in 2028, the airport said. The expansion of Terminal 1 and the building of the new domestic terminal are planned to be completed “around 2031,” according to PER. The new hotel, to be operated by Australian hotel firm Accor, is expected to open in 2027.
PER is the fourth largest Australian airport by passenger volume, served by 30 airlines operating to 114 destinations. It is located on 2,105 hectares (8 mi.2) of land owned by the Australian government. Private operator Perth Airport Pty manages PER under a long-term lease with the Australian government.

Casper / Natrona County International Airport Announces Highest Number Of September Passenger Enplanements In Over 40 YearsCASPER, WY – Casper / Natrona County International Airport saw 8,978 September passenger enplanements, the highest number of September fliers since 1983, when the total crested 9,000.
“This points to a change in people’s fall travel habits and their increased choice to use Casper/Natrona County to fly instead of driving to other airports,” said Glenn Januska, Airport Director. “We track these numbers to help support additional air service.”
Since 2020, C/NCIA has been steadily increasing in annual passenger counts, just missing 100,000 enplaned passengers in 2025. Based on this year’s data through September, it is anticipated enplanements will exceed 100,000 in total.

New Flight Paths For Naples Airport Begin Oct. 2Steeper descent, new holding patterns to enhance safety, efficiency and reduce noise
NAPLES, Fla. (Oct. 1, 2025) – The FAA has approved new flight paths for Naples Airport that start Oct. 2 and are designed to enhance safety, increase efficiency and reduce noise.
Naples Airport contracted with FAA-authorized third-party evaluator Hughes Aerospace, which identified two primary flight modifications to help mitigate aviation noise on approach flights:
Test flights conducted in May successfully measured the safety and validity of designs, and the FAA completed its review and granted approval during the past few months. The FAA is notifying pilots of the changes and Naples Airport Authority has launched an awareness campaign to ensure pilots, charter companies and tenants understand the changes.
“These types of modifications typically take years to design, test and implement, and many proposals never receive FAA approval,” said Chris Rozansky, executive director of the Naples Airport Authority. “Hughes Aerospace has a strong partnership with the FAA, and their collaboration was critical in achieving these changes. We are committed to aviation safety and want to be good neighbors. These new flight procedures will enhance safety and help preserve our neighbors’ quality of life, even if by only a few decibels.”
Naples Airport began developing a plan to mitigate noise in the 1970s while developing its first Master Plan. The Naples Airport Authority then established a nine-member Noise Compatibility Committee in 1997, and since 2000, it has invested more than $10 million into noise abatement initiatives.
In 2005, the U.S. District Court of Appeals upheld Naples Airport’s ban on Stage 1 and Stage 2 aircraft, which are widely considered the noisiest classification of jets. The airport also prohibited engine maintenance run-ups from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and established a voluntary curfew during those same nighttime hours, a restraint that has a 98.7% compliance rate from operators. Most recently, Naples Airport launched a Fly Safe Fly Quiet initiative that uses a leaderboard to publicly commend quiet, courteous operators complying with the curfew.
Pilots can start using the new procedures on Oct. 2 and will be required to use the FAA’s higher-altitude approach starting at that time.

Marshall Aerospace Halts Move To Cranfield AirportMarshall Aerospace has halted plans to move from its current facilities in Cambridge, England, to Cranfield, England, citing cost concerns.
The maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider, which specializes in supporting Lockheed C-130 Hercules fleets, said it will seek alternative options.
Marshall announced in 2020 that Cranfield Airport had been selected as the site for its relocation from Cambridge City Airport, after also examining options at Duxford and Wyton. The company had hoped to complete the move by 2030. But in an Oct. 1 statement, it confirmed that, after analysis, “the proposed location (at Cranfield) is no longer affordable.”
The decision comes after what appears to have been a difficult year for the company’s finances, which the UK’s Companies House published on Sept. 22. Marshall Aerospace suffered post-tax losses of £10 million ($13 million), in part because of the loss of contract work with the Royal Air Force after the service decided to withdraw the Lockheed C-130J Hercules fleet from service. The slow pace of selling those airframes to the Turkish Air Force also impacted the bottom line.
The company has managed to offset some of the losses from RAF contracts by selling its C-130 MRO services to other nations in Europe and the Middle East.
Marshall signed an agreement with Cranfield University in October 2020 and secured planning permission for new infrastructure from local authorities in April 2023. Marshall says it is now seeking to secure the long-term future of the business, and the company is “actively exploring” alternative sites but has not said when it might vacate its current site.Dame Karen Holford, chief executive and vice chancellor of Cranfield University, said Marshall’s decision was not the outcome the university wanted.
“The land proposed for development retains longstanding planning permission and we are actively exploring other options for the site,” she said.
Near the village of Teversham, Cambridge City Airport is due to be sold off to developers to enable the construction of a new neighborhood, known as Cambridge East, which, according to local authorities, has potential for about 10,000 to 12,000 homes.
Established in 1909, Marshall is best known for its work supporting the RAF fleet of C-130 Hercules airlifters. But it also converted former commercial Lockheed L-1011 TriStar aircraft into aerial refueling tankers. Marshall also developed and built the droop nose for the supersonic Concorde.
More recently, the company converted two Global 6000 business jets into communications intelligence-gathering platforms for the United Arab Emirates.

HEBRON, Ky. (Sept. 30, 2025) – Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) today celebrated the grand opening of F&F LLC’s new 80,000 square-foot cargo facility, marking the first development at the CVG Global Logistics Park. The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured remarks from CVG leadership and the Kentucky Governor’s office, highlighting the facility’s role in expanding the region’s air cargo capabilities.
The new facility offers direct airside access to CVG’s airfield, dedicated cargo processing space, and 18 truck docks designed to meet the demands of general air freight logistics. Partners Fred Murphy and Frank Tamanko invested in the facility to serve current and future general cargo freight needs.
“This is exactly the kind of growth we’ve been working toward in order to diversify the cargo side of our business,” said Lisa Sauer, chair of the Kenton County Airport Board. “This project helps us expand our general air freight operation and we believe this added capability will strengthen our position as a cargo leader and ultimately create more jobs for our region.”
The CVG Global Logistics Park represents a key component of the airport’s vision to create a self-sustaining aviation ecosystem. The dedicated area provides direct airfield access for general cargo activity, separated from passenger traffic, with distinct operating areas designed to enhance efficiency and security for cargo handling and multi-modal distribution.
“When I think about what makes CVG special, it’s moments like this—when we are strengthening our aviation ecosystem to provide more business opportunities,” said Larry Krauter, CEO of CVG Airport. “This facility represents the kind of partnership and innovation that drives further economic growth at our airport and throughout our community.”
In total, the project was a $15 million investment. It was supported by more than $3.6 million in Kentucky site development funds. More than $33 million of federal infrastructure funds were leveraged to rebuild the nearby airside ramp. These public and private investments are creating momentum for continued cargo growth at CVG.
While CVG serves as a major hub for Amazon Air and DHL Express, which primarily handle express cargo such as perishable goods and time-sensitive shipments, the new F&F facility expands the airport’s general air freight capabilities. This includes handling everyday items like textiles, machinery parts, household goods, and other retail and consumer products that are not as time sensitive.
This facility and future developments at the CVG Global Logistics Park will enable general cargo users and freight forwarder companies to locate at CVG and move goods around the world.
In addition to CEO Krauter and Board Chair Sauer, today’s attendees included Rocky Adkins, senior advisor in the office of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear; F&F partners Fred Murphy and Frank Tamanko (president of Cincinnati-based Bascon Inc.), Campbell County Judge-Executive Steve Pendery, and representatives from local government and economic development agencies.
