Tsurumi and Smith Pump Partner to Support Municipal Market

Tsurumi Pump has partnered with

Smith Pump

to expand its pump offerings, driven by a shared focus on municipal applications. The relationship between the two companies centers on Tsurumi’s AVANT FM Approved line of pumps and mixers, which aligns closely with the demands of municipal infrastructure projects.

Founded in 1962, Smith Pump is dedicated to providing pumping solutions backed by superior customer service and quality products. The company established its presence in the municipal market by combining application insight with dependable equipment solutions, making the partnership with Tsurumi a natural fit.

The AVANT line stood out as a solution for Smith Pump due to its involvement in lift station projects. From a distributor perspective, Smith Pump views Tsurumi’s product depth as a key advantage. The breadth of hydraulic options and horsepower ranges available within the AVANT line allows for more precise system design, supporting the performance and reliability expectations of municipal job sites.

“The AVANT line fits a niche that is very specification driven,” stated Granger Smith, Chairman of the Board at Smith Pump. “This line is distinctly different from developer lift stations where speed and minimal requirements are often the priority,” Smith added.

“Tsurumi America is proud to have Smith Pump as our municipal distributor in Texas and Oklahoma,” stated Chris Bristol, CEO of Tsurumi (America), Inc. “We could not have found a better fit for the AVANT line,” Bristol added.

Product installations are already underway, including the recent installation of multiple Tsurumi pumps at a lift station in Northeastern Oklahoma. This project reflects the type of application that Smith Pump aims to support through the partnership with Tsurumi.

“Both myself and the staff at Tsurumi look forward to working with Granger and the team at Smith Pump for years to come,” concluded Bristol.

Looking ahead, both companies view the relationship as a foundation for continued growth within the municipal market. With a shared emphasis on technical fit, product performance, and long-term collaboration, Tsurumi and Smith Pump plan to continue expanding their presence in specification driven projects.
