Japan’s Mitsubishi Power, an affiliate of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has announced that it has been awarded a contract, in cooperation with South Korea’s Doosan Enerbility Co., to supply two advanced gas turbines and auxiliary equipment for the O Mon 4 Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) Power Plant in Vietnam.
The O Mon 4 plant, with a planned capacity of 1.2 GW, is being developed by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam). The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract was awarded to a consortium comprising Doosan Enerbility and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2) of Vietnam.
This project forms part of the Block B – O Mon gas-to-power value chain, a national priority initiative aimed at enhancing Vietnam’s energy security and accelerating its energy transition. As of the end of 2024, Vietnam had an installed gas-fired power capacity of 8.3 GW, representing 9% of the country’s total power mix.
