Powergrid Approves Three Transmission Projects Worth Rs 5.84 Billion

The Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved three projects with a total estimated cost of Rs 5.84 billion under the regulated tariff mechanism (RTM) route.

One project involves augmentation of the Tuticorin-II gas-insulated substation (GIS) in Tamil Nadu through installation of an additional 500 MVA, 400/230 kV interconnecting transformer. The project is estimated to cost Rs 1.32 billion and is scheduled for commissioning by February 2028. The other two projects involve installation of optical ground wire and associated communication systems on existing inter-state transmission system lines in the Western and Eastern Regions. These projects are estimated to cost Rs 3.08 billion and Rs 1.44 billion respectively, and are scheduled for commissioning by September 2028.
