With an eye on accelerating real-world solutions for maritime decarbonisation, workforce development and digitalisation, class society RINA is strengthening its Singapore Open Innovation Hub, backed by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).

RINA’s Singapore Open Innovation Hub will focus on three priority areas: integrated digital twin technologies linking vessels, ports, and inland systems; decarbonisation solutions such as alternative fuels and new operating models; and AI-enabled learning platforms to address workforce skills gaps.

As part of the initiative, RINA plans to grow its Singapore-based research and innovation team, creating 13 new specialist roles over the next three years.

“EDB’s support allows us to accelerate the deployment of solutions such as integrated digital twins, alternative fuel adoption pathways and AI-enabled learning platforms, ensuring that innovation is not only developed but also implemented at scale,” said Imran Ibrahim, director of RINA’s Singapore Open Innovation Hub.

“Companies like RINA can access a strong base of research and scientific capabilities here to co-develop, test and scale new solutions,” added EDB Global Enterprise Division vice president, Soo Haw Yun.
