As part of the latest edition of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme, the European Commission (EC) has allocated €2.2 billion in funding for projects on the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) corridors. This represents 77% of the total €2.8 billion CEF co-financing package. The funds are earmarked for the construction of Rail Baltica, infrastructure improvements in Greece and Slovakia, and high-speed rail (HSR) projects in the Czech Republic and Poland. In addition, 46 projects in 11 countries, including Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Sweden, will receive support for the implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS). A total of 94 transport projects were selected from 258 applications.
