With architecture by Woods Bagot and and interiors by Mitchell & Eades, boutique hospitality group Six Senses presents a supertall skyscraper that unites ultra-luxury living with a wellness-centric philosophy. Construction on the Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina is already underway in the emirate, slated to stand at 517 meters tall and take the title of the world’s tallest residential tower upon completion in 2028.
Its slender silhouette towers above the Marina skyline crowned with a tapered peak. Within, across its 122 stories, 251 residences ranging from deluxe residences and half-floor penthouses to triplex Sky Mansions will unfold alongside ‘layers’ of communal spaces. Each dwelling offers residents a holistic and sustainable lifestyle experience, infused with biophilia and classical feng shui elements alongside bespoke amenities promoting residential health.

Developed in collaboration with UAE-based real estate developers Select Group, architecture studio Woods Bagot, and WSP Middle East, Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina will embrace sweeping vistas of the Marina, Palm Jumeirah, coastline, and beyond across all of its residences. The two- to four-bedroom residences, ranging from 1,977 square feet to 5,773 square feet, are fitted with bespoke timber joinery and delicate bronze accents that cast a warm, golden glow, harmonized with sleek metallic accents. Ample sunlight bathes the interiors, filtering through full-height windows and doors that open onto expansive balconies positioned at opposite ends.
The four- and five-bedroom duplex and triplex Sky Mansions are spaciously abundant, with open-plan programs integrating living areas, study spaces, gyms, and cinema rooms. Residents of the duplex and triplex Sky Mansions, which range from 8,997 square feet to 14,102 square feet, have access to an array of extensive luxury amenities crafted to enhance longevity, wellness, and human connection.

Kingstone Re Acquires Mixed-Use BuildingKINGSTONE Real Estate (KINGSTONE RE) has acquired a mixed residential/retail building in the town of Well am Rhein from BPD (Bouwfonds Immobilienentwicklung).
The development consists of 48 publicly subsidised rental apartments plus c. 1,100sq m in retail area. The transaction took the form of a forward deal and comprises a plot of land of around 3,290sq m and the building’s turn-key construction. Construction work will start before the end of the first quarter of 2025, with the completion scheduled for year-end 2026.
The development site is located at the corner of Hauptstrasse and Riedlistrasse. The 48 apartments, which have between two and four rooms and which range from 55sq m to 100sq m in size, are spread across three upper floors and the attic. Moreover, residents will have the use of an underground car park with 39 spots. Another 33 surface parking spots are allocated to the commercial units. The roof will be surfaced with gravel packing and extensive greening to tie down particulates, to harvest rainwater and to facilitate natural climate control with its insulating properties.

With A Complete Retrofit, Athens' Piraeus Tower Becomes The First Green Highrise In GreecePiraeus Tower officially opened its doors to tenants and visitors on June 4th, 2024, at the port city of Piraeus in Athens, revealing its award-winning, spring-patterned facade (see more here) designed by PILA. Two months later, the structure’s retrofit was officially completed, earning itself the title of the first green highrise and second tallest building in Greece, marking the starting point of the Athenian Riviera. It stands today as a mixed-used, fully accessible, and sustainable landmark with public open spaces and a contemporary workplace, soaring 88 meters into the sky. ‘This project sets a new standard for urban revitalization in Greece,’ shares Dimitris Andriopoulos, CEO of Piraeus Tower and Dimand.

Spanning about 35,000 sqm, the first three levels of retail at the Piraeus Tower are already leased to Zara, Zara Home, JDSports, while the third and fourth floor will offer F&B by Nice n’ Easy, and a gym operated by Athlesis. The office levels above will host 2,000 people and are occupied by anchor tenants Dialectica, NorthStandard, and V Group of Companies, among others. The office fit-out for V Group’s headquarters on the 22nd top floor is also designed by the team at PILA. As part of the project, the architects have also designed an elevated walkway from Karaiskaki Square to the park, improving the urban experience and connectivity around the tower. The structure runs atop the port fence, providing unobstructed views of the port. Beyond a typical walkway, it features seating areas for enjoying the view and incorporates green spaces for a more pleasant experience.

Moving on to the facade design by PILA, a shading structure with vertical and horizontal overhangs encloses the tower. Each vertical fin is horizontally displaced from one floor to the next, creating a spring pattern that wraps around the building. The pattern appears to gently slide from one facade to another, with the resulting visual effect of the facade wrapping around the tower like an immense piece of fabric. This dynamic pattern appears different from various locations, creating a rich visual experience constantly transforming, depending on where one is standing.

Designer Thanos Danilof wrapped the facade in a lighting system that features sequences of colors and luminous intensities on all the fins of the Piraeus Tower in Athens. During special occasions, such as the welcoming of the Olympic Flame, the exterior lights up with unique hues, including a permanent sequence appearing warm white. ‘This is chosen after studies were conducted for the best environmental conditions to have a mild intensity that protects against light pollution and energy consumption. The energy required to light up the tower each night is equal to the energy consumed by two home A/C units,‘ notes the team. PILA’s facade has been awarded a 2024 CTBUH Facade Award of Excellence and will be presented at the Barbican Centre in London on September 23rd, 2024.

The Piraeus Tower is set to become the first LEED Platinum-certified tower in Greece and has also enrolled in the WELL Core™ program to prioritize the health and well-being of its tenants and end-users. It embraces circular economy principles by separating pre-existing glazing and aluminum from other facade elements, sending them to Saint-Gobain in Romania for recycling, and then returning them to Greece for reuse, resulting in 126 tonnes of recycled glass. Each floor is equipped with smart systems (BMS) that allow tenants to operate independently based on their specific needs.

The rooftop features 500 square meters of photovoltaic panels, and the building is equipped with the latest cooling and heating systems. The basements provide 44 parking spaces with charging stations, three generators for backup power, and six water tanks to reuse collected greywater. Lastly, the Piraeus Tower in Athens is conveniently accessible by all forms of public transportation, enabling occupants and visitors to commute easily and access boats, trains, and airplanes for leisure travel.skyscraper

Chamfered Edges And Voids Shape Age 360 Residential Tower As Vertical Landmark In BrazilWith a striking geometric form rising 124 meters tall, the AGE 360 residential tower introduces a vertical landmark in Curitaba, Brazil. The project has been developed by Sao Paulo-based ARCHITECTS OFFICE to resolve residential needs as well as urban visibility. As it responds to both regulatory constraints and the site’s proximity to Barigui Park, the structure is visible from various points of the expanding, low-density Ecovill neighborhood,
‘The structural exoskeleton’s uniformity was crucial in maintaining the tower’s visual identity,’ shares Greg Bousquet, the studio’s founding architect. ‘In the end, we found that the contrast between mineral and vegetal elements created a striking dialogue, reinforcing the concept of integrating the building with nature.’ The design process involved 48 volumetric studies to achieve a configuration that addresses human comfort while maximizing views and complying with zoning regulations. The result is a distinct silhouette defined by chamfered edges and punctuated with intricate voids supported by a concrete exoskeleton.

AGE 360’s structural exoskeleton eliminates the need for internal columns and enables flexible apartment layouts and unobstructed views from within, strengthening the relationship between residents, space, and context. It also contributes to the residential tower’s vertical emphasis and lends it a sense of lightness despite its height, reducing structural weight. Additionally, ARCHITECTS OFFICE prioritizes biophilic design, integrating built-in planters on the terraces to create a continuous vertical garden and introduce greenery into the structure. The plant species, selected by the Brazil-based studio for their wind resistance and low maintenance, soften the building’s rigid materiality and introduce an organic contrast between the raw concrete and lush vegetation and foster connection with nature across various facets.
Inside, the AGE 360 tower’s communal spaces deviate from traditional configurations for enhanced wellness and more integrated urban living. Amenities are instead positioned at the building’s core, with the spa, pool, and elevated gardens enjoying panoramic city views from an open vantage point. Greg Bousquet envisioned these areas as ‘democratic gathering spaces’ for all residents. ‘Beyond enhancing sociability, this decision reinforces residents’ well-being by placing them at the center of the experience. It also aligns with the project’s ‘wellness’ concept,’ the architect adds.

J. Mayer H. Unveils Winning Design Of Water-Inspired 'Cheongdam Tower' For SeoulJ. Mayer H. Architecture has been chosen for its design of the Cheongdam Tower in Seoul, South Korea — a winning proposal envisioned as part of the Seoul City Urban/Architecture Creation/Innovation Design Project contest. The team links its architecture to ‘clear water,’ symbolizing ‘purity and a natural living environment,’ a theme which is central to the design. Water, they explain, represents the organic flow of life and serves as the foundation for growth and culture. Sustainability is a key focus, with the undulating, organic skyscraper incorporating water features and lush greening throughout.

This theme of ‘clear water’ is reflected in the Cheongdam Tower’s form, as J. Mayer H. Architecture defines the building by flowing lines and organic curves, with green terraces cascading down its exterior. With a facade suggesting rippling waves, the overall effect is that of a living, breathing organism within the urban landscape. Public spaces at the base of the tower offer a welcome retreat from the city, with winding paths leading visitors through open, landscaped infused with water features. These spaces will host cultural events and luxury retail. Above, a rooftop terrace, will open out toward panoramic views of the city, the Han River, and the mountainous landscape beyond.

Step Inside Kpf'S Beaux-Arts Inspired Supertall Skyscraper At 520 Fifth AvenueStanding tall in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF)-designed residential tower at 520 Fifth Avenue is set to become a new landmark for the New York skyline. Developed by Rabina, a renowned New York-based real estate firm, the 1,000-foot (305-meter) tower can be recognized at once by its facade wrapped in arches, paying homage to the city’s long architectural heritage — including Beaux-Arts icons like the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal — all through a fresh, modern lens. The glazed terracotta arches frame expansive ten-foot by ten-foot glass windows, while tiered terraces spiral up the tower.

Stepping inside the KPF-designed 520 Fifth Avenue, residents are greeted by a 24-hour attended lobby featuring a custom arched mosaic floor and elegant reeded walnut walls. The interiors throughout the building have been curated by Charles & Co. From residences to amenities and the private club, the spaces evoke a contemporary reading of timeless New York style.
‘Our aim for a project of this caliber was to design residential spaces that evoke a unique atmosphere, while naturally reflecting the ethos and function of the entire building,’ says Vicky Charles, founder of Charles & Co. ‘We drew inspiration from 520 Fifth’s iconic surrounding environment to capture the glamour of NYC’s past with infusions of contemporary sensibilities. The interiors at 520 Fifth are both welcoming and glamorous, defying traditional expectations for a home in the sky of New York City.’

The light-filled residences at 520 Fifth Avenue open broadly out toward the city through KPF’s expansive arched windows. With high ceilings, ranging from ten feet to over fourteen feet, the spaces are curated with wide-plank white oak floors, adding warmth to the lofty rooms. Kitchens feature top-of-the-line appliances, ribbed walnut islands, and quartzite slab countertops and backsplashes. Meanwhile, bathrooms offer a spa-like experience with marble countertops, herringbone marble flooring, and polished nickel fixtures. One- to four-bedroom homes occupy the tower’s top forty stories, providing residences of all sizes access to the building’s highest floors with views across both the East River and the Hudson and beyond. The 88th floor houses a residents-only amenity floor, featuring a glass-walled solarium, lounge, dining room, library, and game room.

‘Our design for 520 Fifth Avenue places residential and office space above a club function within a 1,000-foot-tall tower,‘ explains James von Klemperer, KPF President and Design Principal. ‘The building steps back following the zoning envelope, echoing Hugh Ferris’ architectural visions of 1920’s New York. Selgascano + Frpo Plan Kaleidoscopic 'Rozafa Hotel Tower' As Vivid Icon For Shkodra, AlbaniaSpanish architecture studios Selgascano and FRPO has designed the Rozafa Hotel Tower, a contemporary addition to Shkodra, Albania’s rich architectural tapestry. Shkodra, known for its cultural and historical significance, features a mix of Illyrian, Roman, Ottoman, Venetian, and neoclassical architectural influences. Selgascano’s approach respects this diversity, aiming to integrate the new tower into the city’s urban fabric while celebrating its heritage.
Strategically located, the hotel aspires to become an architectural icon that adds playful color and geometries to Shkodra’s skyline while encouraging economic and tourism development. The design prioritizes harmony with its surroundings by ensuring that the tower is perceived on a human scale. This approach aims to make the building feel like an integral part of the community, encouraging locals to embrace it as their own.

Designing its Rozafa Hotel Tower, Selgascano and FRPO took inspiration from the site, with three primary facades oriented toward the region’s most notable features: the Albanian Alps, Rozafa Castle with the Drin and Buna rivers, and Shkodra Lake. The tower’s fragmented geometry creates dynamic facades that respond to the surrounding landscape while visually lightening the structure. This design reduces the perception of the building as a monolithic mass and enhances its integration into the urban and natural context. The varying facades also allow natural light to penetrate the interiors and create a shifting visual identity throughout the day.

The triangular plan ensures sunlight reaches the east, south, and west facades, while the building’s deep terraces provide shade and protection from Shkodra’s Mediterranean climate. These terraces, equipped with parasols and railings, extend the functionality of indoor spaces, improving energy efficiency and offering comfortable outdoor areas that connect users to the surrounding environment. Horizontal planes and a variety of wood textures give the tower a natural aesthetic that complements Shkodra’s environment. Yellow, orange, and light green accents on railings and parasols echo the city’s atmosphere and landscapes, enhancing the tower’s visual connection to its setting.

This organization minimizes mechanical requirements and ensures programmatic clarity, with dedicated elevators and services for each section. The tower’s lobed geometry creates three vertical crevices that house separate entrances for its commercial, residential, and hotel components. This thoughtful arrangement ensures easy access while maintaining a cohesive urban connection with the existing Rozafa Hotel.

Chamfered Edges And Voids Shape Age 360 Residential Tower As Vertical Landmark In BrazilWith a striking geometric form rising 124 meters tall, the AGE 360 residential tower introduces a vertical landmark in Curitaba, Brazil. The project has been developed by Sao Paulo-based ARCHITECTS OFFICE to resolve residential needs as well as urban visibility. As it responds to both regulatory constraints and the site’s proximity to Barigui Park, the structure is visible from various points of the expanding, low-density Ecovill neighborhood,
‘The structural exoskeleton’s uniformity was crucial in maintaining the tower’s visual identity,’ shares Greg Bousquet, the studio’s founding architect. ‘In the end, we found that the contrast between mineral and vegetal elements created a striking dialogue, reinforcing the concept of integrating the building with nature.’ The design process involved 48 volumetric studies to achieve a configuration that addresses human comfort while maximizing views and complying with zoning regulations. The result is a distinct silhouette defined by chamfered edges and punctuated with intricate voids supported by a concrete exoskeleton.

AGE 360’s structural exoskeleton eliminates the need for internal columns and enables flexible apartment layouts and unobstructed views from within, strengthening the relationship between residents, space, and context. It also contributes to the residential tower’s vertical emphasis and lends it a sense of lightness despite its height, reducing structural weight. Additionally, ARCHITECTS OFFICE prioritizes biophilic design, integrating built-in planters on the terraces to create a continuous vertical garden and introduce greenery into the structure. The plant species, selected by the Brazil-based studio for their wind resistance and low maintenance, soften the building’s rigid materiality and introduce an organic contrast between the raw concrete and lush vegetation and foster connection with nature across various facets.
Inside, the AGE 360 tower’s communal spaces deviate from traditional configurations for enhanced wellness and more integrated urban living. Amenities are instead positioned at the building’s core, with the spa, pool, and elevated gardens enjoying panoramic city views from an open vantage point. Greg Bousquet envisioned these areas as ‘democratic gathering spaces’ for all residents. ‘Beyond enhancing sociability, this decision reinforces residents’ well-being by placing them at the center of the experience. It also aligns with the project’s ‘wellness’ concept,’ the architect adds.

Developed by Dependable Equities, Ombelle marks a significant addition to Fort Lauderdale’s residential landscape. Located at 300 NE 3rd Avenue, the building integrates 11,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with its expansive residential offerings, all designed to support a holistic and active lifestyle. ‘Ombelle Fort Lauderdale’s expertly designed residences and extensive amenity offerings go far beyond traditional expectations,’ said Isaac Schlesinger, Principal at Dependable Equities. ODA’s design for Ombelle will introduce to Fort Lauderdale a variety of living spaces, from studios to three-bedroom units ranging from 465 to over 1,400 square feet, along with luxury penthouses up to 2,600 square feet. Each residence includes state-of-the-art smart building technology, custom-designed Italian kitchens and bathrooms, and interiors defined by open-concept layouts and 10-foot ceilings. The option for fully furnished units adds an additional layer of convenience and exclusivity. ‘Every moment in the building offers an experience, inspires a sense of community, and establishes a strong connection to the city and nature,’ noted Eran Chen, AIA, ODA’s founder and executive director.
The architects at ODA worked closely with Dependable Equities, a Brooklyn-based real estate investment firm founded by Isaac Schlesinger and Simon Dushinsky of the Rabsky Group. ODA will infuse its Ombelle development in Fort Lauderdale with an array of amenity spaces. Upon entering the building, residents will be greeted by a 15,000-square-foot lobby that features a cultural garden and multiple lounges, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The ninth floor of the building will be dedicated to wellness and lifestyle amenities curated by Arch Amenities. These include a chef’s kitchen, dining areas, a co-working suite, a library, music and recording studios, and even two indoor pickleball courts on the garage level.
The South Tower complements this offering with a state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga and Pilates studios, treatment rooms, and a wellness lounge with outdoor features like a Zen Garden. Som Breaks Ground On Cimc Tower, Planned With Vertical Gardens To Blossom Over ShenzhenSkidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), in collaboration with China International Marine Containers Group (CIMC), has officially begun construction on the CIMC Global Headquarters in Shenzhen‘s Qianhai district. The 53-story, 270-meter-tall skyscraper is poised to become a new landmark in the region. The design was awarded to SOM after winning an international competition, with plans to set new standards for sustainability and innovation in the continually growing city.
As a leader in the transportation and energy equipment industries, CIMC’s new headquarters reflects its industry stature and commitment to sustainability. The SOM design merges high-performance corporate functions with Shenzhen’s natural landscape, resulting in a vertical mixed-use development. Situated at the boundary between Tirana’s urban core and a neighboring park, the Rruga Adem Jashari project capitalizes on its transitional location. The design by Valerio Olgiati features an open plaza at its base that extends across the street to connect the city grid with the natural landscape. Pine trees line the plaza, softening the boundary and creating a visual and physical link between the two environments.
The Swiss architect’s concept draws from the idea of stacking blocks to create monumental structures. Three towers rise from a shared red concrete base, their facades dominated by exposed structural pillars that highlight the forces at play within the building. These pillars follow a precise logic, giving the towers a distinct, sculptural appearance as they align with the urban grid.

Between the towers, a stepped ziggurat provides a contrasting form and color. Constructed in white concrete, the ziggurat serves as a centerpiece for the development, featuring terraces planted with pine trees to create a layered, garden-like appearance. The towers’ red pigmented concrete gives them an earthy tone that appears to emerge naturally from the site. In contrast, the white ziggurat introduces a conceptual element that stands apart, reflecting a more abstract and sculptural intention within the development.
