stadiumWorld soccer governing body FIFA has provided 1.5 million U.S. dollars for the construction of three stadiums with synthetic turf in Guinea.
At the ceremony to launch the construction of the first stadium in the Mamou region on Monday, Ibrahima Blasco Barry, Secretary General of the Guinean Football Federation (Feguifoot), thanked FIFA for funding the football development in Guinea.
The ceremony was also attended by FIFA representative Macky Diop and other Feguifoot officials.
Following FIFA requirements, the construction period for the Mamou stadium is 10 months.
“Mamou is a dynamic city, passionate about football and which has unfortunately never benefited from a synthetic stadium despite the potential of talented youth,” said Barry.
Diop welcomed the Guinean authorities’ provision of a site for a modern stadium that meets FIFA standards.
