According to a statement from Rosatom, Likhachev evaluated the latest developments in the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project following his meeting with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.

Likhachev stated that construction activities and commissioning preparations at Akkuyu NPP are progressing in line with the plan, adding that work is being carried out in coordination with stakeholders on the Turkish side to accelerate the process.

Likhachev said, "Only a few months remain before the commissioning activities begin. Together with representatives of the customer side, we are making every effort to accelerate all production processes."

The Rosatom Director General claimed that the Akkuyu NPP project has faced various pressures due to the approaches of some international financial institutions, restrictions imposed by European suppliers, and interventions by certain Western public institutions.

Stating that these developments have affected the project’s costs and timeline, Likhachev emphasized the importance of managing existing risks and improving economic efficiency.

Likhachev also noted that Türkiye has implemented various legal regulations to support investments in the nuclear energy sector and that efforts related to the Akkuyu NPP project are continuing within this framework.
