Voestalpine Railway Systems has secured €500m worth of orders from the German and Swiss national railways. The orders from Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB) include rails, turnouts, and signalling technology. Herbert Eubensteiner, CEO of Voestalpine AG, said: “We are delighted that these orders will continue our longstanding partnership with the DB and SBB, and that we are contributing to modernise and digitalise Europe’s railway infrastructure with our highly sophisticated products and systems. “Our Railway Systems business segment once again demonstrates its growth potential in an economically challenging environment." The breadth of the services includes the supply of the systems as well as signalling technology and monitoring applications. DB is planning to invest over €23bn in the modernisation of its national railway infrastructure in 2026. The rails and turnout components will be used in projects such as the renovation of Frankfurt main station and in upgrading high-performance corridors, including the Hamburg-Berlin line. Reinhard Nöbauer, member of the Voestalpine management board, said: “Expanding rail transport is a key factor in the mobility transition. “With our digitalised track and turnout systems, we are helping manage the growing rail transport volumes in Germany more safely and efficiently.”
