TradePort International Corporation, a subsidiary of Vantage Group, has announced plans to enhance John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport’s terminal facilities, supported by a new 49-year management lease signed with the City of Hamilton in September 2024. The upgrades aim to accommodate air service growth, including new flights by Porter Airlines, set to launch in June 2025 with daily services to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and Vancouver.
The terminal improvements include updated exterior frontage, expanded canopies, refreshed interiors, and new digital signage and lighting. Future enhancements will feature passenger jet bridges—a first for Hamilton International—and infrastructure upgrades to support anticipated air traffic growth. These changes aim to enhance the passenger experience while reflecting the region’s natural geography through architectural elements.
George Casey, Chair and CEO of Vantage Group, highlighted the airport’s role as a key economic driver, fostering connectivity, job creation, and community partnerships since 1996. Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director of Hamilton International, emphasised the alignment between Porter’s elevated economy service and the airport’s stress-free, convenient travel experience.
Michael Deluce, CEO of Porter Airlines, expressed excitement about bringing Porter’s unique onboard experience to Hamilton, with potential for future network expansion across North America. Mayor Andrea Horwath welcomed the partnership, noting its transformative impact on passenger services and its long-term benefits for residents, businesses, and the region.
The collaboration between TradePort, Porter Airlines, and the City of Hamilton underscores a shared commitment to sustainable growth, operational excellence, and enhanced air travel options for the community.
