Molins acquires 90% stake in precast concrete producer Zenet

Molins has acquired a 90% stake in Zenet. Zenet operates the 540,000m

/yr Escalonilla precast concrete plant in Toledo. It produces reinforced and prestressed precast concrete elements, including hollow-core slabs, for residential, industrial and civil engineering projects. Founder César Abad will retain his share in the company.

Molins precast concrete executive vice president Higini Alfageme said "The acquisition marks a significant milestone in our strategy to scale industrialised construction solutions, through the integration of a highly-specialised team and a company that has been built with strong operational discipline and long-term vision."

The acquisition follows Molins' recent purchases of prefabricated concrete products company Concremat in Portugal and precast concrete and steel structure company Baupartner in South East Europe.

Origen complete first large-scale test of zero-emission lime kiln at EERCOrigen Power Limited announced the successful deployment and testing of its first-of-a-kind (FOAK) zero-emission lime platform at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) in North Dakota. Frontier selects Leilac to develop zero carbon lime solutionFrontier announce that it awarded an R&D grant to Leilac to support the production of zero carbon lime on behalf of Frontier buyers Stripe, Shopify, and Google. The Leilac technology produces zero-carbon lime with electric heating and by capturing the CO2 released unavoidably from the raw material during calcination. The lime product has near-zero associated carbon emissions – making it a necessary enabler for scaling lime-dependent carbon removal methods like ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE). Molins acquires Zenet to expand its industrialised construction footprint in EuropeMolins has expanded its precast concrete solutions business through the acquisition of a 90% stake in Zenet, a Spanish manufacturer of reinforced and prestressed precast concrete components. Located in Escalonilla (Toledo, Spain), the acquisition will enable Molins to meet the strong demand for industrialised housing construction in central Spain. Zenet’s founder, César Abad, will remain a shareholder and continue to support the business following the transaction. Operating from a production facility set on a 184 000-square-metre site, Zenet has a monthly capacity of 45 000 square metres of precast elements and employs 50 specialised professionals. Holcim UK to close Leighton Buzzard concrete products plantHolcim UK plans to close its Leighton Buzzard concrete products plant in Bedfordshire by the end of 2027. Local press has reported that production may gradually reduce throughout 2026. The company will hold consultations with 30 affected workers. It plans to sell the Leighton Buzzard site to a property development company. Holcim UK plans to restructure part of its Concrete Products division for greater ‘efficiency and growth.’ Under the plans, Holcim UK will establish a new ‘super site’ for its landscaping products operations at an existing company location. The new site will serve domestic and export markets with an expanded range of products, according to the company.
