Ground support equipment manufacturer Newbow Aerospace has hit the ground running this year, opening a third UK factory in January and finalizing its acquisition by HAKI Safety in February. Newbow Aerospace is now doubling its capacity and exploring batch production as it ramps up for a wave of new airline contracts.

Speaking exclusively to Aviation Week, director Marc Green says the company is now evaluating whether higher volumes from recent wins with Iberia, British Airways and Jet2 justify a more modular, standardized build strategy. “The prospect of introducing batch production is something we will consider more closely, once the new facility is fully set up and the production flow process is proven,” he says.

Newbow Aerospace has traditionally focused on universal, multi-aircraft ground support equipment (GSE) designs with customization offered only when required, but Green’s says the company may reassess this in response to rising order volumes. “As we design and manufacture our GSE in the UK, we can and do provide customization of specific trailers and carts to meet particular customer demands,” he says.

The operational pressure comes as Iberia takes delivery of 16 wheel and brake trailers for its Airbus A350‑900 fleet, with units scheduled to be deployed across Spanish airports in the coming months. British Airways’ line maintenance operation at London Gatwick Airport has also contracted Newbow to supply trailers for its Airbus A320 and Boeing 777 fleets, while Jet2 has signed a new trading agreement covering tire inflation tooling and pressure gauges.

Green says the scale of these programs has forced a renewed focus on production planning and supplier coordination. “With any contract and order of this magnitude, there is an absolute priority to focus on production planning and capacity, which in turn relates to resource allocation,” he says. “Through continuous dialog with our trusted supplier network, we can ensure that we achieve cost efficiencies and realistic and deliverable lead times.”

To support the increased workload, Newbow has opened a new 4,000-ft.2 fabrication unit near its existing West Midlands facilities and recruited additional welders and fabricators. The site is now operational and dedicated to expanding throughput of GSE trailers and service carts.

Green says the additional space is already reshaping the company’s internal processes as it continues to explore ways to improve efficiency across the business. “This includes increasing material purchases with our supplier network, resulting in an uplift in production capacity and a reduction in lead times,” he says. “The opening of our new fabrication facility will also add significant bandwidth to our production capability.”

The expansion follows a year of heightened activity in the Middle East, following Newbow’s first sales and service partnership in Saudi Arabia in 2025. The company reports a rise in inquiries from MROs and airlines in Saudi Arabia, adding further momentum to its 2026 workload.

Green remains upbeat on Newbow’s 2026 outlook, in step with ongoing growth in the aviation sector.
