MiningAlkane Resources has strengthened confidence in the Brunswick South deposit at its Costerfield operation in central Victoria, with ongoing drilling supporting plans to bring the high-grade gold and antimony deposit into production.
The company has completed an additional 91 extension and infill drill holes at Brunswick South since its previous resource update in October 2025, with results reinforcing grade continuity and identifying a connection between the recently discovered deep gold-dominant zone and historical surface workings.
Located 400 metres south of the previously mined Brunswick vein and just 200m from planned underground access, Brunswick South is well positioned to become a near-term mining area.
Alkane said drilling continues to extend the deeper gold-dominant Kiwi zone, with geological interpretation indicating the mineralisation occurs in a similar setting to the Youle deposit, which is currently being mined at Costerfield.
The exploration program has also intercepted parallel veining around 200m west of Brunswick South, with follow-up drilling scheduled to begin shortly.
An updated Mineral Resource Estimate, incorporating an initial Ore Reserve, is expected later this year.
Alkane managing director and chief executive officer Nic Earner said the latest drilling results had significantly improved confidence in the emerging deposit.
“Focused extension and infill drilling at Brunswick South over the previous year has produced highly encouraging results,” Earner said.
“This newly defined deposit not only contains pockets of high gold endowment, but critically a significant quantity of antimony.
“Excitingly Brunswick South can be brought online without extensive access requirements as it is situated 200m from existing development.
“We are commencing development towards Brunswick South in the current quarter and are looking to establish it as a primary production source for Costerfield.”
The results form part of Alkane’s broader strategy to expand production at Costerfield, with Brunswick South expected to provide an additional source of gold and antimony ore as development progresses.
