ERGIL Completes High-Pressure Pig Launcher & Receiver Package

ERGIL, a global manufacturer of engineered pressure equipment and pipeline systems, has successfully completed the engineering, manufacturing, and delivery of a high-pressure pig launcher and receiver package for a major oil and gas development project operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in partnership with TotalEnergies.

The project stands out as one of the highest-pressure pigging systems within ERGIL’s project portfolio, designed specifically for intelligent pigging operations under extreme operating and safety conditions. The equipment was engineered for a design pressure of 240 bar(g) and manufactured in full compliance with ASME Section VIII, Division 2. ERGIL is ASME U-2 certified, allowing all critical design, fabrication, inspection, and certification activities to be executed in-house.

A defining element of the scope was the custom quick opening closure, fully designed and manufactured by ERGIL and integrated with a mechanical interlocking system. This configuration provides a high level of operational safety, ensuring that the closure cannot be opened while the system is pressurized — a critical requirement for high-pressure pigging applications.

Despite a highly compressed project schedule, ERGIL successfully completed the manufacturing and documentation within the required timeframe. The execution involved detailed mechanical engineering, stress analysis, and full QA/QC documentation, including material traceability, non-destructive examinations, heat treatment, pressure testing, and final certification. The pig launcher and receiver were designed for hydrocarbon service with gas, liquid, water, CO₂, and trace H₂S, ensuring long-term reliability under demanding operating conditions.

Muhammad Shameel, regional sales manager at ERGIL, says: ‘Nigeria has always been a strategically important market for ERGIL. We have built long-lasting relationships with Nigerian companies over many years and have consistently supported prestigious operators such as NNPC and TotalEnergies. Being selected as a trusted supplier for such a critical, high-pressure application is something we are extremely proud of. It reinforces ERGIL’s reputation as a first-choice manufacturer for technically demanding and safety-critical equipment in Nigeria and across the region.’

This successful delivery further strengthens ERGIL’s footprint in Nigeria and highlights its ability to support complex oil and gas projects where engineering depth, compliance with international standards, and delivery reliability are essential.
