(WO) — Halliburton has been awarded a contract by Basra Oil Company (BOC) to provide integrated field management services (IFMS) and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) for the development of the Bin Umar and Sindbad oil and gas fields in southern Iraq.

Under the contract, Halliburton will support field development planning, production optimization, digital integration and EPCM services for the two fields. The project is intended to help accelerate development while supporting the Iraqi government's strategy to strengthen domestic production capacity and expand technical capabilities within Basra Oil Company.

Halliburton will deploy its Landmark software portfolio to create a digital platform connecting subsurface evaluation, well planning, production operations and business planning. The company said the integrated digital workflow is designed to improve operational visibility, streamline project execution and support faster decision-making throughout field development.

"We will work alongside BOC as a technical and project management provider to integrate workflows, digital solutions and execution expertise to maximize asset value."

The Bin Umar and Sindbad development program aims to increase crude oil production while expanding the capture and utilization of associated gas for Iraq's domestic market. According to BOC, the first five-year phase of development could increase production at the Bin Umar field to approximately 150,000 bopd while producing up to 300 MMscfd of associated gas. The project forms part of Iraq's broader strategy to strengthen energy security and reduce reliance on imported natural gas.

Basra Oil Company will retain ownership, operatorship and decision-making authority for the assets, while Halliburton will provide technical support and project management services. Halliburton also said it plans to work with local resources throughout the project in support of the Ministry of Oil's workforce development and local content initiatives.
