Under the first agreement, Sonatrach subsidiary ENAGEO will work with SONIDEP on seismic data acquisition and processing across Niger to support future hydrocarbon exploration. A second MoU between drilling subsidiary ENAFOR and SONIDEP provides for the creation of a joint venture focused on oil and gas drilling activities in the country.

The third agreement was signed between fuel distribution subsidiary NAFTAL and SONIDEP. It covers cooperation in petroleum product distribution, the development of filling centers, training programs, and the establishment of a joint venture for the manufacturing, distribution, and storage of bitumen.

The deals build on a broader cooperation framework signed by the two companies in October 2024 and underscore growing energy ties between Algeria and Niger.

The latest agreements come as Algeria, Niger, and neighboring Nigeria continue efforts to advance the long-delayed Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, a project designed to transport Nigerian natural gas through Niger to Algeria and onward to European markets.
