Ccea Approves Rs 141.06 Billion Investment For 1,200 Mw Kalai-Ii Hydro Project In Arunachal Pradesh

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved an investment of Rs 141.06 billion for the construction of the 1,200 MW Kalai-II hydroelectric project on the Lohit river in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The project, with an installed capacity of 6×190 MW and 1×60 MW, is expected to generate 4,852.95 million units of electricity annually and is scheduled for completion in 78 months. It will be implemented through a joint venture between THDC India Limited and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The Government of India will provide Rs 5.99 billion as budgetary support for roads, bridges and associated transmission infrastructure, along with central financial assistance of Rs 7.5 billion towards the state’s equity share. The state will receive 12 per cent free power and an additional 1 per cent for the local area development fund.
