Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) has announced the results of its 4.3 GW solar auction under Component C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) scheme. Out of the total capacity, 4.01 GW was awarded, and this capacity was secured by 82 companies in total.
The capacities secured by some of the winners and the tariffs quoted by them are as follows: Dilip Buildcon secured 1,363.54 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.73 per kWh. Furthermore, Sunbridge Solar Power secured 471.29 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.75 per kWh.
Additionally, some other winners, their secured capacities and tariffs include Landsmill Industries (422.02 MW, Rs 2.7 per kWh), Purshotam Profiles (173.15 MW, Rs 2.69 per kWh), and Ceigall India (130 MW, Rs 2.850 per kWh). The remaining winners secured a total capacity of 1,459.25 MW.
According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work covers the design, engineering, construction, and commissioning of the facilities. It also includes the construction of bays and associated switchgear at the substations. The scope also covers providing 25 year operations and maintenance services.

On.Energy Signs 5 Gw Transformer DealUSA: ON.Energy, a system integrator and project developer, has announced a 5 GW transformer supply agreement with Prolec GE for data centre and renewable energy applications in the United States.
The deal will support the rapid deployment of ON.Energy’s AI-based uninterruptible power supply (UPS) technology across data centre campuses beginning in 2026. Under the agreement, Prolec GE will manufacture and deliver three-phase pad-mount transformers specifically designed for ON.Energy’s medium-voltage systems.
These transformers will be installed at grid-connected and fully behind-the-meter AI data centres, helping to stabilise AI workloads, regulate ramp rates, and protect both the data centres and the electrical grid from voltage fluctuations.
Transformer supply chains have been under pressure for some time. At the 2023 RE+ trade show, EPC contractors reported lead times increasing from 12 months to as much as 32–36 months, including procurement cycles. While the situation has eased slightly, equipment availability continues to be a key constraint for energy and infrastructure projects.
ON.Energy’s agreement with Prolec GE ensures access to high-quality transformers to meet growing demand and mitigate delays in critical deployments.
Earlier in January, ON.Energy secured a $77.6 M construction credit facility with Pathward, NA, and BridgePeak Energy Capital to develop its 160 MWh Palo de Agua BESS portfolio. The portfolio, located across Texas, includes projects such as Poplar, Ft. Stockton, Mesquite, North Pecos, Colorado, Colorado 1, Andrews, Fathead 1, Fathead 2, and Badger BESS, each with a capacity of 9.9 MW / 20 MWh.
This collaboration underscores ON.Energy’s commitment to supporting reliable AI-driven infrastructure and expanding renewable and energy storage solutions across the US.

India To Require 230 Gwh Of Energy Storage By 2030 To Stabilise Grid With 254 Gw Renewables – EqIn Short : As India’s renewable energy capacity reaches 254 GW, the country will require nearly 230 GWh of energy storage by 2030 to maintain grid stability. Large-scale battery storage, pumped hydro, and hybrid solutions will play a critical role in balancing intermittency, ensuring reliable power supply, and supporting India’s transition toward a resilient, renewables-dominated power system.
In Detail :India’s rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity has reached a significant milestone, with installed renewables touching 254 GW. While this growth strengthens the country’s clean energy credentials, it also presents new challenges for grid stability due to the variable and intermittent nature of solar and wind power generation.
To manage these challenges, India will need approximately 230 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. Storage systems are essential for balancing supply and demand, smoothing fluctuations in renewable generation, and ensuring uninterrupted electricity availability during peak demand and low-generation periods.
Battery energy storage systems are expected to play a central role in meeting this requirement, particularly for short-duration and fast-response applications. Lithium-ion batteries, along with emerging chemistries, are being increasingly deployed to support frequency regulation, peak shaving, and renewable integration at both utility and distribution levels.
Pumped hydro storage will continue to be a key contributor to long-duration energy storage needs. With its ability to store large volumes of energy for extended periods, pumped hydro offers a cost-effective solution for managing daily and seasonal variations in renewable generation while supporting grid reliability.
Hybrid renewable projects combining solar, wind, and storage are also gaining traction as a means to deliver firm and dispatchable power. These configurations reduce dependence on conventional thermal generation and help ensure round-the-clock renewable energy supply to utilities and large consumers.
The scale-up of energy storage will require supportive policy frameworks, market mechanisms, and regulatory clarity. Long-term contracts, viability gap funding, and dedicated storage procurement tenders are expected to play a vital role in accelerating deployment and attracting private investment.
Grid infrastructure upgrades, including advanced forecasting tools, digital grid management systems, and flexible transmission networks, will complement storage deployment. Together, these measures will enhance the grid’s ability to absorb higher shares of renewable energy without compromising reliability.
India’s energy storage push is closely aligned with its broader decarbonisation and energy security objectives. By reducing curtailment, lowering reliance on fossil fuel-based peaking power, and improving grid resilience, storage solutions will underpin the next phase of renewable growth.
Overall, the requirement of 230 GWh of energy storage by 2030 highlights the critical role storage will play in India’s clean energy transition. As renewable capacity continues to grow, timely investments in storage technologies and grid modernisation will be essential to maintaining a stable, efficient, and future-ready power system.

Dilip Buildcon Leads 82 Winners Of 4.01 Gw Madhya Pradesh Solar Auction Under Pm KusumAs many as 82 companies have won capacities in Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (MPUVNL) large-scale solar power auction held under Component C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) scheme. The auction was floated for a total capacity of 4.3 GW, out of which 4.01 GW was finally awarded. The projects will be developed under the feeder solarization segment, also known as the Surya Mitra Krishi Solarization program, aimed at supplying clean power to agricultural feeders across Madhya Pradesh.
Dilip Buildcon Limited emerged as the biggest winner in the auction, securing a cumulative capacity of 1,363.54 MW. The company quoted tariffs ranging from ₹2.74 per kWh to ₹2.79 per kWh. Following the auction, Dilip Buildcon received a Letter of Award from MPUVNL for 1,363.55 MW AC capacity under the Non-DCR category. The projects will involve setting up grid-connected solar PV power plants, with the electricity generated to be sold to Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited for a period of 25 years. The company plans to execute the projects through multiple special-purpose vehicles. Dilip Buildcon also stated that the award provides it with an EPC business opportunity valued at around ₹4,900 crore, excluding GST, which will be executed over the next 18 months.
Sunbridge Solar Power was another major winner, securing a total capacity of 471.29 MW at tariffs ranging between ₹2.75 per kWh and ₹2.85 per kWh. Landsmill Industries won 422.02 MW, quoting tariffs between ₹2.70 per kWh and ₹2.75 per kWh. Purshotam Profiles secured 173.15 MW, with tariffs ranging from ₹2.69 per kWh to ₹2.84 per kWh. Ceigall India won a cumulative capacity of 130 MW at a tariff of ₹2.85 per kWh. The remaining 77 companies together secured 1,459.25 MW, with tariffs ranging from ₹2.68 per kWh to ₹2.78 per kWh. Neutron Sunray, also known as Neutron Solar, quoted the lowest tariff in the auction.
Ceigall India Limited, which is among the fast-growing EPC players in the country, has also received a Letter of Award from MPUVNL for its 130 MW AC capacity under PM KUSUM-C. The project will be implemented across two districts in Madhya Pradesh and includes design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and operation of the solar power plants. The EPC contract is valued at around ₹550 crore, including GST. The execution period is 18 months, followed by a 25-year operational phase backed by a long-term power purchase agreement starting from the scheduled commercial operation date.
The auction highlights strong participation from domestic developers and EPC companies and reflects continued interest in feeder-level solarization projects. The awarded capacities are expected to support a reliable daytime power supply for agriculture while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and lowering emissions in the state.

European Energy Secures Approval For 1.1 Gw Of Solar In AustraliaFrom pv magazine Australia
European Energy said its 1.1 GW Upper Calliope solar project has received planning approval from the Gladstone Regional Council, opening the way for the fully contracted development to move into final design, grid connection processes and construction planning.
With construction targeted for 2026, the Upper Calliope Solar Farm is expected to be the biggest in the National Electricity Market (NEM), spanning a 2,700-hectare site about 50 kilometres southwest of Gladstone and producing 2.8 TWh of clean energy per year – enough to meet about 5% of Queensland’s current demand.
European Energy Vice President and Australia Manager Catriona McLeod said the council’s decision positions the project as a permitted, large-scale solar asset in a key industrial energy region.
“With planning approval now in place, we can move ahead with the Upper Calliope project, one of the largest projects European Energy has undertaken to date,” she said. “It’s an exciting and important step and our experienced team will now move on to the next phase of development.”
With both planning and federal environmental approvals in place, McLeod said the project has progressed into an “advanced stage” of development with remaining steps including grid connection finalisation, procurement and final investment decisions.
The Upper Calliope project is supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement with the global mining and materials company Rio Tinto, under which the solar farm’s full output is contracted. Electricity generated by the solar farm is intended to supply Rio’s industrial operations in Queensland, including aluminium smelting and alumina refining in the Gladstone region.
Thorvald Spanggaard, Executive Vice President and head of project development at European Energy, said the long-term offtake agreement provides revenue visibility and underpins the project’s commercial structure while planning approval reduces execution risk.
“Approval significantly reduces development risk and allows the team to progress with final design and procurement decisions,” he said.
“Together with the long-term contracted offtake, the project now represents a permitted, utility-scale solar asset with defined revenue characteristics – one of the largest of its kind.”
The Upper Calliope Solar Farm is part of European Energy’s rapidly growing pipeline of projects in Australia, which now totals more than 5 GW of renewable energy capacity under development.
The company earlier this year completed its first PV project in the country with the commissioning of the 58 MW Mokoan Solar Farm in Victoria and earlier this month announced that all 170,044 panels had been mounted at the Lancaster Solar Farm being built in northern Victoria.
The 106 MW PV facility will now move into the final stages of construction, commissioning, and testing, while construction of the 31 MW Mulwala Solar Farm in New South Wales is progressing.
Other projects in European Energy’s development pipeline include the 1 GW Sawpit and 500 MW Leichardt solar farms in Queensland, and the 100 MW Winton North solar project in Victoria.

Solar Power Surpasses Natural Gas As Türkiye’S Renewable Capacity Crosses 75 GwTürkiye has crossed a major milestone in its power sector as installed renewable energy capacity has exceeded 75,000 megawatts, while solar power has overtaken natural gas in total installed capacity for the first time. The latest data was released by the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry on Monday and reflects the country’s long-term push to reduce energy imports and strengthen domestic energy production.
As of November 2025, Türkiye’s total installed electricity capacity reached 121,782 megawatts. Renewable energy sources accounted for 75,615 megawatts, representing around 62% of the total capacity. This shift highlights the growing role of clean energy in Türkiye’s power mix, especially as the country faces limited domestic oil and natural gas resources and a high current account deficit driven by energy imports.
The Energy and Natural Resources Minister said that combined wind and solar capacity had reached 39,215 megawatts. Solar energy alone now accounts for 20.3% of the total installed capacity, while wind contributes 11.9%. Together, wind and solar now make up one-third of Türkiye’s total installed power capacity.
According to the data, solar power has become the second-largest power source in the country, surpassing natural gas, which now holds a 20% share. For decades, natural gas had remained the second most dominant source after hydropower. However, rapid growth in solar installations over the past several years has reshaped the energy landscape.
Hydropower remains the largest contributor with 32,294 megawatts, accounting for 26.5% of total capacity. Wind power stands at 14,546 megawatts, while domestic coal and imported coal account for 11,475 megawatts and 10,456 megawatts, respectively. Biomass and geothermal energy together contribute just over 4,000 megawatts.
The minister also noted that domestic energy sources now represent 71.5% of total installed capacity, equivalent to 87,090 megawatts. He emphasized that each new renewable energy investment helps Türkiye move closer to its goal of full energy independence.
During 2025, Türkiye completed solar and wind tenders totaling 3,800 megawatts, with an expected investment value of around $4 billion. These projects were allocated under the Renewable Energy Resource Zone, or YEKA, auction mechanism, which plays a central role in expanding clean energy capacity and meeting national renewable targets.
The country aims to increase solar and wind capacity to 120,000 megawatts by 2035. The Minister said Türkiye plans to hold YEKA tenders for at least 2,000 megawatts every year to maintain momentum. He added that localization efforts and renewable expansion remain key pillars of the country’s energy strategy.
Electricity consumption in Türkiye has tripled over the past two decades and is expected to grow even faster in the coming years due to ongoing energy transformation. The YEKA model, introduced in 2016, was designed to support large-scale projects, simplify land allocation, and encourage domestic manufacturing. Recent updates, including easier permitting and financial incentives, have helped attract investors. This year’s tenders alone generated about 530 million euros in revenue for the state.

Emmvee Starts Production At 2.5 Gw Solar Module Line In IndiaFrom pv magazine India
Emmvee has commenced operations at a 2.5 GW solar module manufacturing line at its Unit VI facility in Sulibele, Hoskote taluk, near Bengaluru, Karnataka, western India.
The commissioning forms part of Emmvee’s planned capacity expansion and was completed on schedule.
With the new line operational, the company’s total solar module manufacturing capacity has increased to 10.3 GW.
For the first half of fiscal 2026, Emmvee reported a 193% year-over-year increase in revenue to INR 2,159 crore ($140.8 million). Profit after tax rose nearly sevenfold compared with the same period a year earlier. The company attributed the growth to higher module volumes and operating leverage from expanded manufacturing capacity.
Separately, Emmvee said construction has begun on its proposed 6 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility at ITIR Phase 2 in Bengaluru. The company has received loan sanction approval of INR 3,306 crore from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency for the project.

Mexico‘s Energy Secretary, Luz Elena González Escobar, has announced the approval of 20 new renewable energy projects set to add up to 3,320 MW of installed capacity.
Solar accounts for 15 of the newly-announced projects, contributing 2,471 MW. The remaining five projects are all wind farms that will add an additional 894 MW to the national electricity system.
The announcement follows the publication of a call for proposals in October directed to the private sector for the development of 34 power plants, with a combined capacity of 5,970 MW. The power plants have been marked as a priority by the current government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The bidding process signalled the reactivation of the sector after a six-year period characterized by the paralysis of new projects during the administration of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador between 2018 and 2024.
According to a preliminary schedule, 19% of the newly-announced projects will become operational in 2027, 78% in 2028 and the remaining 3% are planned for 2029.

India’S Renewable Energy Surge: 35 Gw Solar Addition In 2025 Signals A Strong Shift Toward A Cleaner Power MixIndia’s renewable energy landscape is undergoing a rapid transformation as the country seeks to balance fast-growing electricity demand with its long-term climate and sustainability commitments. Even though coal remains a dominant force in India’s power system, the steady and accelerating rise of renewable energy—particularly solar and wind—signals a clear shift in the country’s energy priorities. As of November 2025, coal accounted for 43.08% of India’s total installed power capacity, underlining its continued importance in ensuring base-load power. At the same time, the expanding share of renewables highlights India’s determined efforts to move toward cleaner energy sources without compromising reliability.
During the first eleven months of 2025, India added an impressive 34,983.53 MW of new solar capacity. This significant addition reflects strong policy support, improved project execution, and growing investor confidence in the solar sector. Government initiatives aimed at improving quality standards and strengthening domestic manufacturing have played a critical role in this expansion. Among these, the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has emerged as a key policy instrument. By enforcing strict quality benchmarks for solar modules and encouraging the use of domestically manufactured components, the ALMM framework has helped reduce reliance on imports while boosting local industry. As a result, India’s solar PV module manufacturing capacity reached 122 GW by December 2025, a milestone that reinforces the country’s push for self-reliance in clean energy technologies.
By the end of November 2025, renewable energy sources accounted for 39.94% of India’s total installed power capacity. Solar power has been the primary driver of this growth. Installed solar capacity rose to 132.848 GW, representing 65.25% of total renewable capacity and contributing 26.06% to the overall national power mix. This marked a year-on-year increase of 41.08%, reflecting the rapid pace at which solar projects are being commissioned across the country. Large-scale utility projects, rooftop installations, and hybrid systems have collectively accelerated India’s progress toward its clean energy targets.
India’s total installed power capacity crossed 509 GW in November 2025, recording an annual growth of 11.6%. Despite the notable rise in renewable capacity, coal-based power continues to generate nearly half of the nation’s electricity. This situation highlights the complex challenge India faces: reducing dependence on coal while maintaining grid stability, affordability, and uninterrupted supply. As the share of variable renewable energy grows, the need for advanced grid management, energy storage solutions, and flexible generation has become increasingly critical.
Beyond energy generation, the expansion of renewable energy is delivering wide-ranging social and economic benefits. Solar and wind projects are creating employment opportunities across the value chain, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. These projects are improving electricity access, stimulating local economies, and contributing to the development of remote regions. Consequently, the clean energy transition is not only addressing environmental concerns but also enhancing livelihoods and regional development.
Rising renewable capacity has also strengthened India’s energy security. Reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels shields the economy from global price volatility and supply disruptions. Simultaneously, advancements in storage technologies and grid infrastructure are improving the reliability and integration of renewable power. Although coal remains a significant part of the energy mix, the consistent growth of renewable energy—led by solar—demonstrates India’s strong commitment to building a cleaner, more resilient, and self-reliant energy future that supports both economic growth and sustainability.

Amea Power, Kyuden International And Ifc Partner To Develop Africa’S Largest 1 Gw Solar Pv And 600 Mwh Battery Storage Project In EgyptAMEA Power, in partnership with Kyuden International Corporation of Japan, has joined hands with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and a consortium of international lenders to develop a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage project in Egypt, aimed at strengthening the country’s energy security and grid resilience.
The project, with a total investment exceeding USD 700 million, will comprise a 1,000 MW solar PV plant coupled with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate. Once commissioned, it is set to become Africa’s largest single-asset renewable energy facility integrated with battery storage. The project is jointly owned by AMEA Power, holding a 60% stake, and Kyuden International Corporation, which owns the remaining 40%. Commercial operations are targeted for June 2026.
AMEA Power has already commenced early construction works ahead of the full financial close, underlining the project’s strategic importance in supporting Egypt’s rising electricity demand with clean and reliable energy solutions.
The project is being financed through an approximately USD 570 million senior debt package led by IFC, including funding from its own account and capital mobilised from international partners such as Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), FMO, DEG, British International Investment (BII), the OPEC Fund for International Development, and Europe Arab Bank (EAB). Additional concessional blended finance is being provided through loans from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the MENA Private Sector Development Program, supported by the Government of the Netherlands, with IFC acting as the implementing entity.
On completion, the project is expected to generate more than 3 million MWh of clean electricity annually, sufficient to power over 500,000 households, while avoiding approximately 1.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Construction activities are projected to create more than 4,000 jobs, with the majority filled by local workers, contributing to skills development and economic growth in the region.
The initiative builds on AMEA Power’s ongoing collaboration with IFC across North Africa, following the commissioning of major solar and wind projects in Egypt, as well as landmark renewable energy developments in Tunisia. The project also marks Kyuden International Corporation’s first investment in Egypt, further strengthening international participation in the country’s clean energy transition.

Seg Solar To Develop 3 Gw Manufacturing Facility In IndonesiaSEG Solar has announced plans to develop a 3 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Batang Regency, Indonesia. The project forms phase I of a broader 5 GW expansion plan for ingot and wafer production. The proposed manufacturing facility is expected to involve an investment of about $80 million, fully funded by SEG. The site will cover nearly 50,000 square metres. Moreover, production at the plant is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
This project is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its upstream manufacturing capacity and advance the establishment of an SEG PV industrial park in Indonesia. SEG currently operates a photovoltaic module manufacturing facility in US and a solar cell manufacturing unit in Indonesia. With the addition of the planned ingot and wafer facility, the manufacturing chain will extend across all major stages, from ingots and wafers to solar cells and finished photovoltaic modules.
SEG Solar is a vertically integrated solar manufacturing company, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company caters to utility-scale, commercial, and residential markets. The company has a module production capacity of 6 GW, as of 2024.

Ptc India And Nlc Renewables Form Jv To Develop 2 Gw Clean Energy ProjectsPTC India Limited has entered a joint venture (JV) agreement with NLC India Renewables Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited. The proposed JV will be established for domestic operations, with an equity structure of 74 per cent held by NLC India Renewables Limited and 26 per cent by PTC India Limited. The consideration will be in the form of subscription to shares of the JV company to be incorporated, in line with the agreed shareholding ratio.
The JV will collaboratively explore and develop green energy projects of up to 2,000 MW across India in a phased manner. The scope includes, but is not limited to, solar, wind, hydro, and battery energy storage systems. This will be subject to conditions specified in the joint venture agreement and requisite statutory approvals.
Furthermore, the collaboration will support the expansion of renewable energy assets while strengthening associated activities such as power trading, consultancy, and advisory services. The initiative is aimed at achieving long-term sustainability and supporting a green growth trajectory, in accordance with the regulatory requirements.
