The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has floated a tender for the selection of renewable developers to provide an assured peak power supply of 4,800 MWh (1,200 MW×4 hours) from interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected renewable projects across India. The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis. SECI shall enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders for a period of 25 years.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes the development of ISTS-connected renewable energy projects with an energy storage system (ESS), along with the associated transmission network up to the interconnection or delivery point. Additionally, it includes land identification, project installation and ownership, obtaining the necessary approvals, securing grid connectivity, and establishing interconnection with the ISTS, state transmission utility, or intra-state transmission system network, as applicable. The selection of projects will be technology agnostic, and the ESS may be owned by the developer or tied up separately with a third party for power supply, and the ESS technology may also be changed by the developer during the tenure of the PPA.

The bidder must submit a single bid offering a minimum cumulative contracted capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 600 MW. Furthermore, they will be required to pay an earnest money deposit of Rs 0.968 million per MW times the solar cumulative installed capacity, plus Rs 1.368 million per MW times the wind cumulative installed capacity, plus Rs 0.24 million per MWh times the ESS cumulative installed capacity. The bid submission deadline is July 20, 2026.
