The US Department of Justice has notified a federal court of its intention to review, and potentially revise, the approval of the Construction and Operations Plan (COP) for the Atlantic Shores South offshore wind park, located off the coast of New Jersey. The project, a joint venture between EDF and Shell, has a projected capacity of up to 2.8 GW.
In October 2024, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) granted final approval for the COP, paving the way for the development of the Atlantic Shores South offshore wind complex, including 197 wind turbines.
This move comes as the US administration continues to scrutinize offshore wind developments. In late September 2025, BOEM filed a motion in federal court seeking to withdraw its approval of the 2.4 GW SouthCoast Wind project off the coast of Massachusetts.
