RailwayThe Punjab provincial government has approved the construction of the Blue Line, a completely underground metro line in the city of Lahore. The approximately 27 km long corridor will run from Valencia Town to Babu Sabu Chowk, with stations planned in Johar Town, Faisal Town, Garden Town, Kalma Chowk, Gulberg, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Wahdat Road, and Allama Iqbal Town, among others. The project costs are estimated at more than EUR 1.85 billion (PKR 600 billion). Tunnel boring machines with an advance rate of around 6 m per day are planned for the tunnel construction. The construction period is estimated at three years. According to the authorities, there is interest from international financing and infrastructure partners from China, Japan and France. More than 250,000 passengers per day are expected to use the service provided by the operator.
