railwayHitachi Rail has been awarded a €37 million contract for the replacement of the existing EMU500 ATP System Equipment, by Taiwan Railways Corporation, Ltd.
This significant project underscores Hitachi Rail’s expertise in advanced rail signaling systems. Hitachi Rail has a proven track record of delivering cutting-edge rail solutions in Taiwan, powering the nation’s efficient and reliable transportation network. From supplying hundreds of EMU train cars to advanced signaling systems, the company continues to shape Taiwan’s rail future.
The contract involves replacing the existing Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system for TRC’s EMU500 fleet of 63 trains, with Hitachi Rail’s ELO system. This award builds on Hitachi Rail’s longstanding partnership with TRC, including prior supplies of 600 EMU train cars in 2019. The new ATP solution will modernize the EMU500 electrical systems, reducing faults and extending vehicle life while boosting operational efficiency and supporting the future possible upgrade to ETCS Level 2 digital signaling. Hitachi Rail remains committed to Taiwan’s rail infrastructure development through innovative technologies.
“This contract award underlines Hitachi Rail’s longstanding partnership with TRC which is expanding into the signalling sector of TRC’s rail infrastructure and we are committed to delivering a high quality and innovative solution to our client”, said Gabriel KOE, Senior Director, Hitachi Rail Taiwan.
