On 19th September 2025, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) put into operation a 14.7 km extension of light rail transit (LRT) line A from the APU/Citrus College station to Pomona in Los Angeles County. This brings the total length of the line to 93 km with 48 stops, making it the longest LRT line in the world. The extension includes four new stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne/Fairplex and Pomona North and allows transfers to the suburban rail line San Bernardino on the Metrolink network. The construction costs of EUR 1.3 billion (USD 1.5 billion) were financed by local sales taxes, state climate funds and a EUR 254.4 million grant from the Transit & Intercity Rail Capital programme. The design-build contract awarded to the Kiewit-Parsons joint venture in 2019 contracted in July 2020. A planned extension to Montclair was halted when the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority withdrew its funding.
