railwayThe Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded the civil contract for the design and construction of the NS3A station and viaduct on the North-South Line (NSL) to Obayashi Corporation.
The contract is valued at approximately 281 million SGD (219 million USD). Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026, with passenger service on the route expected to start in 2034.
Obayashi Corporation has experience in infrastructure projects including rail stations and tunnels both in Singapore and overseas. The company is currently involved in Cross Island Line Phase 2 projects through a joint venture with Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
NS3A station will be located between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations on the North-South Line (NSL) It will be the third MRT station to be constructed on an existing elevated line, following Canberra station on the NSL and Dover station on the East-West Line.
The station will provide access to residential areas including Keat Hong Estate, Bukit Batok West, Pavilion Park Estate, and the Brickland District in Tengah Town. It will also serve nearby educational institutions, such as ITE College West, Swiss Cottage Secondary School, and St. Anthony’s Primary School.
The addition of NS3A station to the existing rail network requires several engineering measures:
During construction, LTA and Obayashi Corporation will engage with residents and stakeholders and provide regular progress updates. Commuters and residents are thanked for their understanding during the works as the rail network is expanded.
