The upgrade aims to ease traffic flow and improve road safety, while enhancing connectivity between Dausa and Alwar districts. The improved corridor will also link the region to the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, facilitating smoother access to Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.

As part of the project, a flyover will be constructed at the Jaipur-side junction of National Highway-21 in Mahuwa to reduce congestion. In addition, bypass roads will be built at Mahuwa (4.8 km), Mandawar (3.99 km) and Garhi Sawai Ram (2.45 km). A 1.45 km realignment at the Machadi turn is also planned to lower accident risk.

Once completed, the four-lane highway with paved shoulders is expected to cut travel time, support the safe movement of heavy vehicles and give a boost to local trade and industry. The Garhi Sawai Ram bypass will run from near Vijay Ram Meena’s residence to Anta Pada Government School, and will include an underpass and service road at the Laxmangarh road crossing.

According to Rahul Jangid, Assistant Engineer at the National Highways Authority of India, land acquisition is under way and the tender process will be completed within three months of financial approval. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of the new year.
