The government said the works have been sanctioned under a project supported by the World Bank and are designed to improve connectivity and spur economic activity by facilitating access to healthcare and education. Officials stated that the tender has been issued and work is expected to start in about 45 days once contractors mobilise. Officials added that initial site surveys and preparatory works will precede full scale construction to ensure timely mobilisation.

The Chief Minister emphasised that economic development is intended to be inclusive and benefit the entire state rather than specific constituencies, and the administration reiterated its commitment to all round development. He noted that the projects would support tourism and agriculture, connect numerous villages and deliver long term benefits to local communities. He said the administration intended to involve local communities in planning to ensure projects meet local needs and maintain environmental safeguards.

At Lumshyrmit the foundation was laid for the Shkemtalang to Lumshyrmit road, which will include a major bridge over the Myntdu River, and the government confirmed the contractor has been on boarded to begin preliminary works. The administration also indicated ongoing negotiations with the Government of India on lifting the coal mining ban and implementing scientific mining practices while balancing the needs of large and small miners. Support was announced for an indoor stadium at Latyrke as requested by residents to enhance local facilities.
