Road & BridgeConstruction crews are working around the clock to complete the new Ferris Road bridge in Melton, with the level crossing set to be removed later this month.
Ferris Road remains temporarily closed at the level crossing while crews complete the final stage of works. The new bridge over the rail line is scheduled to open on 15 July, improving safety and reducing congestion for the more than 16,000 vehicles that use the crossing each day.
Recent works have included the installation of concrete barriers and kerbing. Crews will next connect the bridge to the existing road network before completing lighting, traffic signals, drainage and pedestrian footpaths.
The project forms part of the wider Melton Level Crossing Removal Project, with works continuing on new rail bridges at nearby Coburns and Exford roads, as well as the new Melton Station. The Melton corridor is expected to be level crossing free later this year.
