The Feralpi Group continues to implement its decarbonisation strategy

Italian steel producer Feralpi Group has set a new target of net-zero emissions by 2050, according to Rinnovabili.

The company has committed to reducing its Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 90 per cent compared with 2022 by that date.

At the same time, the group aims to reduce the remaining absolute Scope 3 emissions (non-core scope) by 90 per cent by 2050 (compared to 2022 levels). These include emissions resulting from the procurement of goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, transport and distribution, waste generated during operations, the processing of sold products, and the end-of-life stage.

Feralpi Group’s new long-term targets were recently officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) — the world’s leading body for assessing and certifying corporate climate commitments.

It is worth recalling that at the start of last year, Feralpi announced that it was accelerating its investments in sustainable development and expanding its product range. In February 2025, the company secured a €170 million loan from a consortium of banks comprising BNL BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole Italia, Intesa Sanpaolo and Unicredit. The loan is linked to sustainable development and the achievement of ambitious environmental sustainability targets.
